Adriano Controversy Continues

0,,37407873-EX,00Adriano has been the dominant story in the Brazilian sports press all week. After the bizarre encounter with his ex-girlfriend last week, he showed up to Flamengo practice today with…you know it, his ex-girlfriend, now again current girlfriend, Joana Machado. This comes after Fla official Marcos Braz told Globo that the player had started his boozing habit again, a habit which has plagued him for years during his career.

Adriano’s agent responded to these alcohol allegations by stating, “When he was in Milan he had counseling with experts, but the type of cure proposed was rejected by the Calcio world…When I took him to Flamengo I advised everyone on the situation, but when you win you forget everything…Even an Inter medic had said that Adriano was not an alcohol dependant.” Whatever that means.

Adriano did not go on Flamengo’s trip to Venezuela to face Caracas FC in the Copa Libertadores today. He has missed 11 training sessions over the last two weeks. His personal life is something that should be private. However, these antics today, bringing Machado to training, are absurd and only invites this criticism. This is a player that clearly does not care. If Dunga selects him for the national team this summer it will be a huge amount of hypocrisy from a man who is claiming that off-the-pitch antics are not tolerated on the team.

In another bit of news, the CBF released the schedule for this year’s Brasileiro. That full schedule can be found here. After a down to the wire finish last season, this one should be just as intriguing with Robinho and Roberto Carlos’ return, not to mention the emergence of future superstars Neymar, Wellington Silva, and Walter.

I am not surprised at all about Adriano's problems. I always think that he should not go. Him going back to his antics can only do good to the selecao, as that would allow Dunga to select a more valuable player without coming under fire from his critics.
  • i think Dunga is looking for a scorer. a top of the key. a forward's forward. Vagner Love doesn't seem bad right about now. seeing as he has 13 goals or so so far this season. thats including Libertadores. or maybe even Fred.

Oh, i had no idea about Hulk's punishment. Too bad, because he is a very skilled player. No matter what, he still can make this big move to a bigger club this summer, but because of his punishment, i think the doors of Selecao are closed for him now.
I haven't watched Bundesliga this year. I always consider Grafite a great player, but if he is not in a good condition now...
I still cannot understand how Pato cannot be in the final selection for the WC...

Neymar seems to be good, he is linking well with Robinho..Probably he should go to SA
  • I totally missed the story about Hulk. What was he thinking?? Its too bad, because I think he was poised to make a big move this summer. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/feedarticle/8953478
  • Hulk got banned from playing in the Liga Portuguese for like 6 months or something hefty...so he is beyond not match fit, so he is definately out the picture.

Grafite eh...he has been a shadow of his former self and has stunk up the Bundesliga. he doesn't deserve squat. niether of them do.

Ιf Dunga doesn't take Pato, i think a player who deserves to be in South Afrika is Grafite. He is strong, skilled and a steady player, who you know what to expect from (and you can expect a lot). I would prefer Grafite to Adriano, if Adriano is not in a good condition.
Another player that i like a lot is Hulk, but i don't think Dunga is seriously considering the possibility to take him in the WC.....
  • I wouldn't vount much on Walter...

he is said to be weighing 98ks as of last week or so, and to given up on his specific diet, after he locked himself in his apartment, which came after comment he thought Fossati made about him, but fortunately he snapped back into reality and met with his agents outside to talk about his return.

he will now be demoted to Inter B and will have to follow a strict rigid diet.

but on a good note wálter returned to train yesterday, he did some gym work and ran around the field.
