Brazil 8 : 0 Lucerne
As I expected. A Brazilian party with some training involved. Nobody was injured, thank God.
The scorers were Kaka (19), Adriano (37, 85), Ronaldo (42, 58), Lucio (61), Juninho (71) and Robinho (77).
Parreira pointed out the importance of the observation of the player’s positioning. He said: “We must improve the pace of blocking and our speed, but as a practice it was nice.”
Juninho scored a great goal from a freekick and admitted that the game was far from the level they will meet at the World Cup. “This result gives us more motivation” he said.
Before the game started we already knew that the Lucerne players were advised not to hurt the Brazilians so I was not that nervous. We could see that Ronaldo and Adriano were not as fast as they used to be, but the fast passes were compensating that issue. The game started with Lucerne going for the goal and it seemed (for about 7 minutes) that the game would be harder, but soon we could see that it was just a good practice.
The great repertoire of goals Brazil scored was a feast to the eye. Freekick, fast passed, close ranged, far ranged, headed, very nice. I saw Cafu running like crazy, which is a great thing. Lucio sometimes went to attack acting as a fifth element in the quartet, as a surprise to the opposition.
Ronaldinho was in a very generous mood. He was feeding the others with great passes. Many times he could have shooted on goal but he rather passed the ball to a friend. He only tried to score twice but it was clear that he was eager not to shine more than his teammates. He was just having fun dribling and twisting the opponents heads.
Ronaldo was not as fast as he used to be but for those who have been talking about his fitness he delivered great moves and some powerful running. Adriano was very motivated. At the beginning of the game I really thought he would not perform well but the Brazilians’ rhythm was contagious and soon he was all smiles too.
Robinho was another nice surprise. He entered the game to spread chaos in Lucerne’s defense. He was inspired (probably by Ronaldinho) and displayed some great moves too. He scored in a fantastic kick far from the goal.
Like Akbar said before, it was nice to sit back and watch such display of talents on the pitch. Lucerne played better than Fluminense U-20 but we must keep in mind that all that was nothing more than a deluxe practice in a nice stadium with good TV coverage and 30.000 amazing fans.
The overall opinion (coach and players) is that Brazil is on the right path to get to the World Cup with good conditions to perform in Germany.

Soze, today I would say Croatia would have a best chance of winning. Our team is still getting match pace and would be vulnerable against a team with a stronger rhythm.
This game against Lucerne was just a simple practice. The magic quartet was dancing through their defences, as Kapcro pointed out.
It would be a completely different story against Croatia today and will be another on June 13 as well. Robinho was the one who made that pass to Adriano! He was on fire!
About playing against stronger teams at this point would do more harm than good. The team is not ready and a bad loss would bring the morale down very heavily. Look what is happening to Germany! We don’t need that now. Let’s see if New Zealand will be a better challenge. Until then Brazil will be a lot better too.

What was the formation? Is Adriano going to start in WC06? If yes i applaude the coach for not sitting “the TANK”. One of the few pure goal scorers left in the world.

Yes, Adriano will start the tournament on the pitch. Parreira named the starting XI already, saying that they will be the same guys who played the last qualifier against Venezuela.
These are the guys he has really trusted to keep a solid shape in the back (hopefully) and bring lots of goals in the front (obviously/hopefully):
Dida in goal; a back four of Cafu, Juan, Lucio and Roberto Carlos; Emerson and Ze Roberto as the defensive midfielders, plus the attacking quartet of Kaka, Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, and Adriano.

fab>its just a practise session match..its brazils own way of getting ready for a world cup..brazil don’t have to prove themselves before world cups with stronger teams..cos the only real proof is during the WC..

The match was quite a delight to watch. Some people might get worried, but once you get to know Parreira and the Seleçao then you realise that they like to take it slow, steady and step-by-step.
The Brazilians were looking really chilled out, and I’m liking that. They took good care not to tire themselves out or to hurt themselves.
I think the main focus for Brazil would be defence now. Lucerne were penetrating without much difficulty into the box, but then again we have to keep in mind that last night was basically one goalkeeper and 10 attacking midfielders for Brazil. I’m pretty certain that every Brazilian either took a shot or set one up, except Dida.
Brazil is a team that respect the crowd a lot, and they really put on a show. Ronaldinho totally lighted up the place with his little tricks, and he was loving it (by the way, how about that hilarious corner kick where he accidentaly kicked the linesman)
A few words about the players:
Dida: hardly got to see him
Juan: probably the best when it comes to actual defence, did a good job stealing from attackers at point blank shot ranges.
Lucio: was amazing up front. Definitely wasn’t a defender yesterday. Same applies to Roberto Carlos and Cafu who were both playing the wings beautifully.
Emerson and Ze Roberto: Were quite useful in their holding postions, continously feeding the ball forward, and advancing up the pitch as they do.
Kàkà: He was definitely the most dynamic of the pack, and looks like he’s hungry for the World Cup.
Ronaldinho: Was playmaking as always, getting in some nice pinpoint passes but might need to revise his long-range method (which we know he has anyway, as we saw at Barça. Just a matter of revival.)
Adriano: Remained untested. I really missed those powerful thumps, but he didn’t exactly get a lot of passes. Got two opportunities and scored on both. Good stuff.
Ronaldo: No need to worry about speed or fitness, because Ronaldo was truly the King last night. Calm and composed, barely seems to put an effort into those pin-point accurate shots, and he definitely reminded us that he’s probably the number one finisher in the world. Both goals appeared almost effortless.
Team Brazil: Once again, the team came together to remind us of that delicious South American passing. The way these guys pass the ball around will make spectators drool. Combine that with the dynamic attacking and the long string of talent, and you have a World Cup finalist on your hands.

ok sure brazil played a team that i recon i could play for … but the question i put forward to you Euler is this .. why did adriano score 2 goals??? in one game he gets 2 and for inter this yr 9??? So i am RIGHT WHEN I SAID THAT ADRIANO IS A DIRTY DOG AND ONLY PLAYS FOR CASH AT INTER!!!!!!!!! Also ROnaldo is so fat haha, cant even run no more!!

ronaldo may be fat or not..but one thing for sure, he still makes defenders scared shitless..

Marco, you will not like the answer. Italians and Argentineans are crazy to blast Brazil this year. Inter is a team of Italians and Argentineans. You do the math.

Ronaldo is nothing .. without good midfilders who put the ball at his feat would never score … and as for Euler .. what your tellen me that italian and argentinians are bad people now … italians are the best sports men in the world .. You know what i think .. Adriano is like what Veron said “Not as good as whet every one says” — hes another Ronaldo (In a great team is good, in a poor team cant do anything) Id like to see ronaldo or adriano go to a crap team like fiorentina and do waht luca toni did this yr!!!!

You’re not good in math either, man.

Marco, Marco, Marco. Adriano and Ronaldo are pure strikers, two of the best in the world. There is others as well like Ruud, Suker, Pauletta, Villa. When was the last time you saw a true striker be a playmaker. Veron is just a bitter old man who is not going to the WC and has bad words for everyone.
Players like Ronaldo and Adriano need a good support system to be able to shine, and this support is usually best at top level teams in the world. Now put those two players in front of Ronaldinho, Kaka and Juninho and you’ve got danger looking defenders and keepers in the face.
And I’ll agree with Euler> a Brazilian in a team full of Argentinean midfielders…hmmmm.

Be nice to see the Kiwis give you guys a tough friendly on Sunday (though somehow doubt this very much). Should be nothing more than a walk in the park.

The big matches are happening before the World Cup, I don’t know if that’s healthy. I saw a killer attack on someone’s knee (now I don’t remember the attacker or the victim), so I hope we keep training is a soft level.
The players are all world classed in the World Cup, with nothing much left to prove. The classics should be dealt with during the World Cup, not before.
About New Zeland, it will be a better game. Australia won 1:0 only last year. I can expect a score of 4:0 at least. Maybe they score one, right?

hey guys, i think that this team will do great, and even though ronaldo is a little chunky, with the great midfielders we have he should have great opportunities. hopefully italians and argentinians don’t accomplish what they are bringing to this cup because each time brasil is the favorite, we end up being surprized by a crapy team like france in 1998. hopefully we don’t get overconfident like training with those horrible teams like lucerne and think all teams in the wc will be the same

how could you say frances team in 98 was crap … it was a good team with also the bets player in the world at the time .. zidane

Euler, the Kiwis might get one, maybe. The final score will depend I guess on how strong Brazil will be. If you guys put Ronaldo and Adriano in starting line-up, could be a cricket score. Though the Kiwis will be busting their nut to stay close.
For your sake, I hope their is no injuries. I don’t like seeing team lose player prior to the WC via injuries in warm-ups.

I agree, Martin. Don’t you want to give your score prediction?

Ok, let’s see. Euler, if you guys put out your strongest or close to it, let’s say 11-1. Otherwise, I would give it 7-1.
Good luck! No injuries.

If Ronaldo, Adriyano and kaka dont’ miss the ball made pass by Ronaldinho, It would be real samba.
