Brazil Blog Update: The Colombia Recap and The first friendly back on home soil

Due to my current preoccupation (University) blogging time seems hard to come by alas the reason I have woken so early to get this post in.

Ok where do we start? Brazil is in worse shape then ever at the hands of the dopey emperor (Dunga) and the match in the Maracana against Colombia showed Dunga exactly what happens when a team who is organised and willing to work against Brazil can achieve. Unlike Venezuela, Colombia organized themselves well and kept tight to the only creative players Brazil has, in the shape of Robinho and Kaka. As I stated in the previous post I had no intentions of staying up late to watch this match, so all these accounts really are coming from highlights and written evaluations of what happened during the match. Painfully for those of us whom follow the selecao we damn right know that the same problems of a lack of creativeness and lack of cohesion all over the pitch were very much evident during this match. With no counter attack available to the deep nature Colombia were playing, Brazil had no answer except from set pieces and long balls forward. Colombia’s pressure and drive in the Brazilian half of the pitch was the perfect way for them to restrict the ball to our ever so uncreative midfielders. Colombia hardly created much in chances not really scaring Julio Cesar, but Brazil when having an uninspired Robinho (who later hobbled of with injury) and a hacked and closely marked out of form kaka then its painfully obvious non of the other fools on the pitch are going give the team much creatively.

I think Dunga’s player choices here have to be taken into account for the stank crap which was witnessed by the Maracana, who thankfully haven’t lost their voice in their disconcert of coach Dunga (Burro, Burro!!!). Firstly Jo, what the hell was he doing on the team let alone the starting line-up? Adriano was fair enough suspended following the Venezuela yellow card, so lets bring in Manchester City’s big Brazilian striker who really hasn’t done anything this season in the EPL, but look a little fragile and lacks that sharp edge. Jo a young player who really hasn’t proved too much recently, probably did more in the past during his Cska days, to warrant a serious call up. The kid is young and has time to get better but is no way near the level to warrant a call up for the Brazilian team. Next the call-up of Pato, the next big thing from Brazil, has been dreadful since the Olympics and for Milan he isn’t even starting, apart from the odd occasion he seems to fuck up fluff up chances on a regular basis and drift in and out of matches. Seriously its now pissing me off that these kids with reputable potential get into the team without earning shit or playing out of their skin, what about players like Amauri who play week in week out and score loads of goals, these kids get picked above him, Dunga you are an idiot! O that midfield needs a mention the use of Alex of Inter would’ve been a very good move in for or next to Kaka and maybe Mancini (pure Winger) to add width and creativity would have been brilliant to watch, but instead a finished DM in the shape Gilberto Silva and the workmanlike Josue provide nothing. Elano’s brilliant passing ability shows that he really need to be put in the middle to initiate attacks instead of using two blockades to destroy in central midfield. His work rate and drive from the middle is desperate for what Brazil needs, someone just needs to tell Manchester City they are wasting a great talent by leaving him out of matches. Dunga’s weird selection choices leave me wondering what is he trying to achieve with this team, because sooner or later I think the tame may end up playing with four or five DM’S to meet this guys strange ego. Maybe he can bring back Vagner love and really cause the shit to start smelling again.

Highlights of the Colombia match

The Portugal Friendly

The first friendly match back in Brazil for something like three years is against the old Colonialists of Portugal. The shits players selected for the match

Goalkeepers: Júlio César (Inter Milan), Doni (AS Roma)

Defenders: Maicon (Inter Milan), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Miranda (São Paulo), Thiago Silva (Fluminense), Luisão (Benfica), Kléber (Santos), Marcelo (Real Madrid)

Midfielders: Gilberto Silva (Panathinaikos), Elano (Manchester City), Anderson (Manchester United), Josué (VfL Wolfsburg), Kaká (AC Milan), Diego (Werder Bremen), Mancini (Inter Milan), Alex Meschini (Internacional)

Forwards: Robinho (Manchester City), Luis Fabiano (Sevilla), Alexandre Pato (AC Milan), Adriano (Inter Milan).

Yet again no places for decent players such as Amauri, Hernanes or Felipe Melo. Dunga really may want Amuari to play for Italy! Alex is still in the squad and has been on fire for Internacional, along with strong performances from Mancini for Inter milan. Our good flattering to deceive friend Diego makes a return, who wants to bet his twin brother is making an all too shit appearance for the selecao again. The usual casts of shits are still there making an appearance due to their reputations (Anderson I am talking to you). No place for Ronaldinho which I believe is a good decision as he seems to be improving very well at Milan some encouraging signs there and for after Christmas.

As Argentina embark on an amazing adventure with El Diz at their helm, I would like to say from a Brazilian fan I am also very excited to see the success that should come the Albiceleste way, with Marradona calling the shots I can only see one way up for the Argentina team, since to put it bluntly they have their countries and one of the worlds idols pumping each player up to wanting to achieve success. Now imagine Brazil got Pele as a coach, the problem would be he may take triple the fee for a press conference, just kidding. Hopefully with Portugal coming to town we may be on the process of sacking Dunga and maybe getting another 80’s icon in the form of Zico or even Luxemburgo after the Palmieras fans beat him to the pulp, but we will hope and see.

My predictions of this match against Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese are quite mixed. Brazil hasn’t beaten them in their last few meetings, Dunga lost to them last year, a match in which I was present at, so my feelings towards the result are mixed seeing as Brazil haven’t scored in their last three while at home. Like every match I always say that this could be Dunga’s last incharge and the only way possible I think is if Portugal can rip him a new A-hole to get that process done. Porugal have come off a number of poor performances especially that home loss to Denmark in the qualifiers. No more Felipao at the helm, this team will be little different but still have Cristiano Ronaldo and the old cast present. C.Ronaldo is the best in the world at this moment due to his brilliant goal tally and performances last season, but for Portugal and in general I cant see him turn this game on its head so I think Portugal may not solely really on him as I think Dunga’s team will stay very close to their marking purposes. The game will be played in Brasillia the home of Kaka, hopefully his dredfull run of form for Milan of late can get better following this match with Brazil. Post of the match will be out hopefully on Sunday.
