Brazil host Chile this Wednesday in the third to last World Cup qualifier of the campaign. This figures to be a more laid back affair for the national team after securing qualification with their win in Rosario this weekend. As noted in the last post, four suspensions and an injury have forced several changes and call ups to the team.
Chile is coming off a 2-2 draw this weekend at home against Venezuela. Their leading scorer is Monterrey’s Humberto Suazo, who has score six goals in qualifying. Udinese forward Alexi Sanchez is another dangerous player who can easily light up the score sheet. In their last encounter Brazil defeated the Chileans 3-0 on the road. A win for Chile secures qualification, so they should be playing all out in an attempt to gain three points.
Dunga has been emphasizing in the press that the team will be playing to win. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Lucas to see some action in this match. I expect this to be a bit of a dull evening to say the least. I wouldn’t mind seeing some of the domestic players getting a good look in the second half. You have to figure they will be looking to impress and playing with greater motivation.

You’ve listed Robinho but he’s injured. Who’ll replace him?

I know he’s hurt, he’s technically on the roster. I put my projected starting XI in the post. Adriano and Nilmar are in for him and Luis Fabiano.

Elano is injured Ramires is suspended for the game so if Elano is not fit for the game who will start in his position? and Duvel don’t you think since Brazil already going to SA Dunga should call up 22 new players (players who are usually on the bench or guys who don’t usually get call up by Dunga) for the 2 remaining games? i mean guys like Denilson,Hulk,Diego,Pato should also get a chance to get comfortable with Dunga’s philosophy it’s a long way until June anything can happen to anyone he should come up with a back up plan for the regular 11 we all know Dunga likes to stick to his regular 11 he doesn’t really change or rotate the selecao that much and this might be a problem if something happen to the likes of Kaka,Robinho,Luis Fabiano,Julio Cesar,Lucio, Felipe Melo… one last thing why Ramires’s still part of the selecao? he got a clear chance to make the score 4-1 vs Argentina he waste it and he didn’t really play a good confederations cup,Elano and him have not impressed me at least Elano is deadly on the free kicks and scored sometimes i’m looking forward to watch the selecao without 5 of the regular players this should be an interesting game

Thanks for the comment Pachet. Dani Alves got the start tonight over Elano, but Elano still came in during the second half. I’ll give my thoughts about the future calls up in tomorrow’s recap. I would like to see some other players get a chance.
