Brazil Has 2 Teams?

June 1st, 2006 | By: Euler Costa | 80 Comments »

Two Teams!I just saw an interesting article about the World Cup. It starts with this: “Brazil is so loaded with talent that it could probably field the best two teams in the World Cup. Lucky for host Germany, the upstart U.S. and a handful of other upset hopefuls, the rules for soccer’s big party – the world’s most popular sporting event – only allow one team per country. So when the tournament begins Friday, Brazil will have to make do with one squad. ”

Thank you Barry Wilner (AP)!!! The whole article is very interesting and it contains many other important issues, like hooliganism. This friday, very early in the morning, I’ll be travelling to Ubatuba (São Paulo State) for a gig with my band and I’ll be back only on saturday. Read you then, my friends!!!

P.S. Chelsea wants Roberto Carlos.

Brazillian team 06/07 is the best team I’ve ever seen in the whole world, and I know this team is better than Those they call “Good Teams” like England, Argentina , and the other suckies. anyway I didn’t mean to hurt their supporters. I bet Ronaldo/Ronaldinho will be the top scorers.

It’s not about the players it’s about the team, and that’s exactly WHY Brazil are the kings.

The truth is that you can’t tell the difference in the Brazilian team, whoever is playing. The style of play is so masterful, and the players are so versatile, that they can all adapt to it.

This isn’t about Ronaldinho Robinho and Ronaldo. It’s about the Seleçao, which frankly never relied on anybody. Brazil was good without Pelé, without Romario, without Ronaldo and without Ronaldinho.

brazil probably could put together two 11 player squads that would be probably the best group of players. but hey, to be called a team i dont think so. too many egos and mouths to be of a concern to too many countries. they dont know the meaning of team. individual yes but probably not one patriotic mind amongst them. how many games did there actual world cup squad play between them in qualifying for the world cup. excluding trials. 62 players were used or something. i dont think its just a brazil problem. i think the world cup is full of corporates and players who are only there because i bet there is a fat sponsers pay check in there somewhere. every other sport plays there best players possible for a national squad all the time. its about time soccer players treat there sport with the same patriotic view and not just kick the lesser known yet more patriotic players out of the squad when it actually comes time for the world cup. whatever happend to the meaning of team.

do you live in australia marco. you seem to hate everything that is said in australias favour. by the way if brazil played as a team they would have beaten nz with more confidence. i mean australias second string side beats nz by 4 goals. so whats your point marco. you arent being clear. they have the best squad in the world. playing as individuals makes you prone too upsets. thats what brazil always does. if they dont win the world cup its because of this reason. its like chelsea not winning the premier league next season. they should and if anything less would be against the quality of the squad. australia have nothing to lose. australia has no respect on the world stage. and who can blame the world. but i can assure you that the result against the netherlands will send a shudder in teams preparing to play australia. australia didnt play that well. if brazil tries the fancy crap that ronaldinho and ronaldo tries they will lose. australia is too physical for that sort of game.

I’m not an Italy fan but I think they’ll win this year’s World Cup.

Let’s see:

Buffon >> Dida
Zambrotta > Roberto Carlos
Nesta >> Lucio
Cannavaro >> Juan
Zaccardo Ze Roberto
Camoranesi > Adriano
Gilardino > Ronaldo

in reality, spain is the team that could field and A and B team, with another to spare.

Fabregas,Joaquin, Iniesta, Senna, Xavi, Xabi Alonso, Albelda and Luis Garcia make up their midfield for Christ’s sake.

Bidemi: That’s a very mediocre midfield if you compare it to England, Argentina or Portugal.

Troy: Everyone has a right to an opinion, but what your saying isn’t even opinion, it simply defies the very facts.

I doubt you watched the New Zealand match. Lack of confidence? Brazil were dictating that match. The Kiwis can be glad that their goalkeeper was playing well.

Can’t play as a team? Again, you might not have watched a Brazil game for ages. In their last two matches, virtually every player, including the defenders, (and not including the goalkeeper), has had a crack at goal, and that too, after a great build up. Every Brazilian player touches the ball several times, and you can’t actually forget anybody because they’re all so active. No single team in the world can pass the ball around as well as Brazil can.

They used 62 different players in qualification? That’s what I call a team. We can now conclude that Brazil qualified for the World Cup without depending on any one single players individual talent.

I agree with you Claudio! This year’s WC will be Kaka’s! He is an incredible talent, great to watch but ironically his moves remind me of a non Brazilian great…Johann Cruyff! But Kaka will prove to be a notch better than the Dutchman by winning the tournament. And hey, he has won one already, hasn’t he?! Go Brazil!

brazilian players dont have big egos. They play as team and their not in for the money. stop thinking this regular sports like american football or baseball where the players are in it for the money.
soccer is a world sport and it requires skill and talent.

Ronaldinho is too ugly to win the cup.
He looks like Chris Rock with downs syndrome.

Am I wrong?

Dear Carrie, you are a troll. Don’t you have an MLS game to watch? Real Salt Lake, maybe? It sounds like the sport you grew to love (soccer) has blinded you to the beauty of its much cooler older cousin (football), which is played everywhere outside North America. Thank you for listening.
