This was a great match for the team. If Felipe Melo plays like that against the Spanish, presuming we beat South Africa, they will not be able to operate in the midfield like they normally do. This could be a great final. Don’t count out the US giving the Spanish a strong match though.

Brazil are now favorites to me to win this cup. I just can’t imagine Spain keeping their winning streak going, it has to end somewhere and Brazil is looking stronger and stronger. Especially Fabiano, he’s been more consistent this tournament so far than Torres who only had a good game the first game. Villa is of much lesser class, allthough he does get his goals in. Not that hard if you get that many chances.

Brazil’s speed and finishing is more fearsome then Spain’s now. Spain’s creativity and passing is better, possibly defense as well. It’s going to be interesting again. Great tournament so far.

Too bad there’s so much dead weight in the first group and not enough great teams present.

A 2014 Brazilian roster is nearly impossible to predict due to the depth the country has. It really depends on the development of some players currently on the squad, and maturation of the next up and coming group. Who the next manager is will affect the roster as well. If I had to make a guess now…

But then you have guys like Neymar, Wellington, Dodo, Walter, Keirrison, Felipe Melo, Coutinho, not to mention countless others I’m leaving off. The only two players I would definitely say would start by then are Pato and Hernanes but that’s just me.

brasil only need a home advantage to let them win the world cup, so brasil2014 will probably be yours. but at the same time, we have some frighteningly good youth coming up so we will be even better than in 2006 when we get out of this terrible transition and lippi retires for good. just imagine:

Thanks for the comment Weston. I hated to write Italy and weak defense in the same sentence. The talent is there for this not to be the case, but Lippi needs to let go of the old guard. Dossena, Santon, Gamberini, and Marco Motta are all ready to contribute and when Lippi lets them, it will be back to the Italy we all know.
