Brazil vs Ghana formation

June 27th, 2006 | By: Zé Fernando | 24 Comments »

The match starts in one hour and a half; see the preview here and follow it live here. Also be sure to read Euler’s opinion with a lot more pre-game info here (just below).

The formation has just been announced and Parreira is getting back to the Croatia/Australia formations: Dida; Cafu, Lucio, Juan, Roberto Carlos; Emérson, Zé Roberto, Kaká, Ronaldinho Gaúcho; Ronaldo and Adriano. Brazil uses their main (yellow/blue) kit, Ghana uses their black-and-white kit.

Not exactly the formation most of us would have wished to see, but good luck to them.

Oh, the humanity!!! WHY??? My prediction changed… 2:1. Maybe at extra time.

I don’t like that at all. Cicinho and Juninho will be missed. My heart is broken but it still hopes for us.

it’s half time and, although it may seem strange with 2-0 score i’m not happy with brs. you know, it’s not that they can’t play around the ball and posses it, but you’d think they just wonna give the ball away and try out their defence. ghana had so many dangerous moments, and what about brs. why play just on the counter attacks. where is the fast paced movement we saw in the beggining of the 2nd half of japan game.

that was on offside goal from Brasil TO Ghana, appart from having the easiest fixture the games are fixed for Brasil to win.
what’s going on with FIFA? STOP THE CORRUPTION AND MAKE A CLEAN TOURNAMENT.

Juan: just before the 1st goal, Brazil also had a goal chance disallowed because of a wrongflly called offside. Later, Adriano was tripped on the penalty area by the goalkeeper and the referee gave Adriano an yellow card for diving (see the replay, his left foot is trapped).

Mistakes happen, and they happen for both sides. Bitching about the 2nd goal won’t do anything. It was an offside, but nullifying it wouldn’t have changed anything in the long run.

what do certain people have against cafu and roberto carlos? they did not seem old when they played ghana today. these guys are still at the top and even though their age is for real so is their experience.

see, yes , nobody mentioned it but it’s good you remember it, ze, the first oofide they called on ronaldo was wrong, and he was one on one with kingston. you know, during the halftime i expressed my dissatisfaction with the way brs. played, and even now i’m not satisfied – and it’s not because, as it turned out, brs. didn’t know what they were doing, but because they simply didn’t wonna put lot of effort in the attack – but i reilized that, i think, parreira had an idea how to play against ghana. yes adriano was terrible, and all i saw was 3 goals and not much of a play and possesion from brs. which is what i would’ve liked to, but bootom line is, while some other teams left everything on the field to get the result, brs. won 3-0 without breaking a sweat. i’m waiting for robinhio return.

Screw soccer and its absolutely inconsistent and down right terrible referee’s. After watching Brazil v Ghana, I am utterly disgusted. This game
had a very similar incident to the Neil penalty that resulted in Italy robbing Australia.

In the case of Brazil v Ghana we saw Ghana’s keeper fall over in front of the Brazilian striker, motion towards him whilst on the ground and trip him up – the result – a yellow card against Brazil for diving.

This incident was much much worse then Neil’s, who allowed the Italian more time to avoid him and made no attempt to leg him. These two incidents highlighted the terrible inconsistency in the game and would make it impossible to interpret the rules of soccer.

What a disgrace!

Joel, Is that the only thing you saw?
2 of the goals from Brazil were OFFSIDES. At least The 2nd Goal was CLEARLY OFFSIDE!

to RD: if you sa clearly the replay and the analysis, it wasn’t considered offside because it touched the defender’s toe. so it is not considered offside. i guess ghana’s defense wasn’t prepared by Brazil’s counter-attack. Inexperience showed but I think they will improve in 2010 after that experience.

Hey Every one! For the one’s complaining about the referees I would say: They are human beings and are subject to commit mistakes. About Brazil it is the greatest soccer team in the World. The Team that has commited less faults in this Cup, the team which came with 23 players, the bench is as good as the field. For The Sweden fan of Argentina I have a word: Do not offend other fans. Argentina is a good team and I look forward for a match between the two South American teams. Maybe you should vacation in Brazil and then you could talk about soccer and you will never know what I mean by this until you do so. But remember do not offend other people. I love Brasil, I love America and I will surelly go to Sweden some day because I believe your people are better than the sample you gave us. Peace and soccer always!!!
