Cafu’s Situation

Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira said that Cafu is certain to play in the main team this year. Parreira trusts him a lot. But Cafu is not in a great moment in his life. Not because of his football talent and strength, but because of criticism from the press and Milan’s fans. Most are concerned about his age and that just isn’t right.

In recent interview to a Brazilian news site, Cafu spoke his heart. He was living “four months in hell”. His father-in-law died, his father went trough surgery and he has suffered the worst injury in his whole career. But the press never mention these issues. While at 2005 his coach Fergusson recognized that “he seems to have 2 hearts the way he keeps going”.

After Romario stunned everyone becoming the top scorer in Brazilian National Championship at the age of 39, I don’t think it is wise to criticise a player because of his age. He is an important player and he is the Selection’s captain and never let us down when on the green fields. Age… humph! Look at Roberto Carlo’s example! Last time I saw him playing was against Espanyol just the other Saturday. He played 90 minutes with the same talent and strength as always. I really hope he answer all his critics in Germany this year.

I agree with the point, but we must be aware of the “youngsters” and always check the player’s moment.

For example: I really think that Cicinho (from Real Madri) has a huge potential and should be used by Parreira.

But, knowning a little bit about Parreira style, I presume that the team will not change…

In this moment I believe that either Cicinho or Cafu would do great jobs for the Selection.

cafu is a legend and for all his work effort and passion hes shown over the years he deserves a place but not just for that, also because he can still do a magnificent job compared to any other full back in the world. i just hope he isnt injured. it would be a great shame for anybodys international career to end that way especially his.

I only hope those of you that was boosting up Cafu saw what he did. he was mostly responsible for Brazil’s exit in the World Cup. I saw where he has extended his contract with AC milan for another year. Good for him but as far as I am concerned he is finished he has been finished for the last 3 years. Every time I see him play I get angry.
