Dunga Names Squad for Bolivia and Venezuela

The CBF announced yesterday that Brazil will play England on November 18th. This is part of an older agreement that saw the seleção open Wembley Stadium back in 2007. So basically the CBF and the FA agreed to give Brazil a return match, but God forbid that match is played in Brazil, clearly Qatar makes more sense. As it almost always is the case with the national team, their friendlies are outside the country to basically sell kits for Nike. And if you don’t think Nike has that type of clout explain what the f is happening with this Luis Fabiano commercial.

Another piece of news was Ronaldinho being linked to a move back to Brazil to play for Corinthians. Normally rumors are rumors, but I think this one has legs. Corinthians has the money to pay a player like him, and they are dead set on winning the Copa Libertadores next season. Ronaldinho has gone straight to the bench at AC Milan, and if he is going to have any chance at South Africa he needs to be at a place where he is constantly on the pitch.

Finally, Dunga named the squad today for the last two qualifiers next month. I was surprised to see only two new faces: Naldo and Alex. What does this say about Pato for him not to be called up? To be fair he is a little banged up right now, but would have been healthy by the qualifiers. Some believed Ronaldo had a chance to get called, but clearly that did not happen.

Where is Diego????? I understand that he is presently injured but he will have recovered by the time the games are played. I am really concerned about having Kaka as the sole legitimate playmaker in the team. What happens in the event he gets hurt? The key to winning a world cup lies not only in having a good starting line up but also a solid bench. That’s precisely the reason Diego should be in this team, notwithstanding his lackluster display in the past. The starting line up of the selecao is solid save for the left back position, but the substitute bench is questionable. Love the inclusion of Naldo. Will like to see Alex of chelsea also included.

I agree completely Kenny. I don’t think this is the team by any means going to South Africa. Julio Baptista is hurt. Diego didn’t play today against Genoa, but apparently fit again so I don’t know why he didn’t get the call. I would have liked to see Marcelo who is playing well right now as well.

I am also completely agree to kenny if Kaka gets hurt, there is no any other playmaker on the team,Filipe is ok for left flank;but there is a weak-point in RMF position; How Lucas got in only God knows

Totally agreed with your guys!!!! Diego didn’t play well for national team in the past. But he is in excellent form now and he deserves a second chance. I Hope the following players will get Dunga’s notice.
1.) David Luiz of Benfica
2.) Michal Batos of Lyon
3.) Fernando of Bordeaux
4.) Grafite of Wolfsburg
5.) Thiago Silva of AC Milan
6.) Carlos Eduardo of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

God awfull selections by Dunga! Most notably in midfield.. I am Adament that Josue and Lucas are not selecao worthy. Emerging guys like Thiago Motta of Inter and Denilson of Arsenal deserve to be on this team come 2010. Even Anderson is looking impressive out there these days which makes the selection headache even worse for poor old Dunga. To be perfectly honest even as an avid fan of Ronaldinho, and A.C Milan I agree with the snubbing of our players. A spot on the national team should be earned and i am convinced that little Pato and Ronnie are simply not doing enough to get themselves back on the team based on Kaka fantastic recent form for Brazil, Nilmar’s recent emergence as third striker and
Obviously Milan’s dismall start to the season which I believe is why Silva has been left off. In the near future I can see Pato making his way back Into the squad with Thiago but Ronaldinho will need to step up and find some consistency In his game, he looked good coming off the bench at Udinese.. And also how Diego can’t get into the team ahead of Bastista despite his fantastic form is beyond me :/

Good and bad calls. Lucas is getting a good playing role at Liverpool. When Aquillaini comes back I cannot see him getting a starting place so requesting a January loan move to a club like Valenica or Genoa may be necessary in securing a World Cup Place.

Adriano or Diego Tardelli should be replaced by Hulk and Grafite. Josue should be replaced by Diego. Alex has played well for Spartak. And so has Welliton. Maybe he should be considered alongside Hulk and Grafite. nALDO HAS PLAYED WEL FOR wERDER TOO.

It will be interesting to see who starts as well. We know Robinho is out, so this means Nilmar will start. Felipe Melo is suspended because of his red card against Chile. I think Sandro will get the nod as a result. Hopefully Dunga will mix in some of these players on the roster who haven’t got a longer look as like Filipe.

It’s pretty funny how we fans all have our individual preferences with regards to who should be included; I am infatuated with Bastos, Duvel with marcelo and pato, Joel with Hulk. I just have a sinking feeling (especially with Bastos) that the ALMIGHTY DUNGA is gonna disappoint us all!!!!

Josue(Wolfsburg),Lucas Leiva(LIverpool),Andre Santos(Fenerbace),Ramires(Benfica) are not selecao materials even Elano(Galatasaray)”but” he earns his call ups i have to admit i don’t know why players like Grafite(Wolsfburg) is not part of the selecao we can’t say he’s too old Dunga still keep Gilberto Silva(Panathinaikos)around, players like Hulk(Porto)is not part of a team that already have a spot in South Africa?so if i get it right Adriano(Sevilla)is not better than Andre Santos(Fenerbahce)at the left back position? i understand Felipe(Deportivo)is better than Adriano but Felipe is not even part of the starting 11 while he was part of the la liga team for the 2008-09 season now when you’re better than the left backs playing for the likes of Real Madrid,FC Barcelona,Sevilla,Valencia what else you need to prove? we’d won the copa america and the confederations cup but i have my doubt about the world cup just like Pareira decided to keep Cicnho on the bench against France back in 2006 while Cafu was done,Robinho on the bench while Adriano was still too tired after partying with his buddies Ronaldo,Ronaldinho ect…that’s exacly we might end up loosing this upcoming world cup, sometimes the coach stick to the same players even when they have better options right in front of them Lucas Leiva was a big shot in Brazil but he hasn’t done anything since moving to Liverpool and just like Diego he never impress when calling upon in selecao at last Diego has been outstanding playing for his club sometimes i wonder what’s going on in Dunga’s mind

I think this brazilian team is better than 2006.I think some of the players should be included in this brazilian team such as douglas, kleberson, fernando, ilsinho, hulk. if these players are included i am sure we will be going to see the glimpse of 1982 brazilian football team in the upcoming 2010 fifa world cup. please sir include these players.

He should include Alex de Souza from Fenerbahce. Legendary players, in a great form at the moment. Nothing less then Ronaldinho, much better character. Midfields maestro.
