Felipe Melo in the news

The defensive midfielder who gained his first cap for the national team against Italy has been linked with Lyon, Arsenal, and Juventus the past couple of days. Felipe had a strong performance against the Italians, and I hope he continues to get a chance from Dunga. He has had a solid season this year, and Dunga stated before the Italy match, “It’s a player we have been observing for quite some time.” I think this would be a tremendous opportunity for him should any of these rumors materialize. He would be guaranteed the opportunity to play Champions League football next year, which is not a lock next year at Fiorentina as they are in a horserace with Roma and Genoa for the last Serie A Champions League slot.
It’s nice to see some recognizable talent emerging in the defensive midfield for Brazil. Dunga has shown the persistent desire to play two or even three defensive midfielders at a time, even when the quality has been lacking at this position. Fiorentina has valued Felipe at €20 million, after spending €8 million to bring him to the club. Do you think Josué would be valued like this? I think not!

I have been ranting about this Melo guy for so long he is exactly what Brazil needed a hard worker to protect the playmakers and creative players, Melo is exactly that he has great positional sense, distributes the ball well and allows for a smooth transition. im glad he was from defence to attack. for me if he becomes a mainstay in that CM position him and Denilson of Arsenal whom i believe should soon replace Gilberto in the team could really become a phenomenal Brazilian midfield duo of the future.

I agree completely about Denilson. I don’t really understand why he has not had a greater chance with the national team. I know he is young, but he starts, and has been in good form for one of the biggest clubs in the world. I thought he was outstanding yesterday in the Roma match. This duo does have potential, I just hope Dunga starts giving them the necessary experience sooner rather than later.

exactly, honestly i do not know what Dunga is waiting for either or why he insists on consistantly playing Guys like G.Silva, Miniero & Josue when so many other class players are good in that position and available for selection. Melo should recieve further selection, play in the Qualifiers and become a mainstay by W.C time. but what are your thoughts on Anderson & Lucas? for me they are not starting material just yet..Anderson is overrated and relies on his left foot lots while Lucas draws many fouls.

I saw this guy yesterday against Ajax Amsterdam. Men this guy was tough and hard (sometimes too hard based on his faul against van der Wiel)! Such guys are really needed in modern play, even the Italian defenders can learn from him.
