The Wise As the competition comes closer, many players are starting to express opinions and feelings about their chances and roles in the greatest event of any footballer. Some more wisely than others, I think. Juninho Pernambucano, for an example, thinks our defense is not good enough. I say it is as good as any. Zé Roberto, at the other hand, believes we are unbeatable. I disagree completely! This kind of mentality is the most dangerous mistake in a competition like the World Cup. Remember BRA 82 and FRA 02? Now, Kaka is a guy with his head in the right place.

In the player profile I wrote about him, one important factor is that his is a very lucid guy. This AP article goes to prove it. You can clearly notice that he will be in Germany to work for the title, to do a good job and to honor his responsibility to the team. He didn’t criticize any other player nor is thinking that we are the winners already.

Read what he said: “It was very important to have participated in 2002, I learned a lot just by being there. I’ve matured since then, and today I’m more prepared to play for Brazil.”

About responsibility: “I’m ready for that. I have been criticized before, but I know how things work in soccer. I’m prepared; I’m actually happy that I have more responsibility now. I’m ready to face it.”

About sex: “We should be focusing only on the games.”

About scoring: “My focus will be to help the team. If we win it, it will be a perfect World Cup for me no matter what.”

This last line almost brings tears to my eyes. If Parreira can tune the players to this thought, our chances are a lot greater.
