Keirrison Finally Moves to Barcelona

July 23rd, 2009 | By: Duvel | 2 Comments »

This is a big time move for a big time player. Barcelona just paid Palmeiras €14 million for a player they don’t even plan on having on the roster this season. They paid this money because they know he will be worth much more in the future. Pep Guardiola stated that the club will loan Keirrison out for the season, which will give him much more playing time than what he would have seen this season at Barca with their depth at forward. Guardiola said, “He’s very young. He got some great statistics. It’s difficult to find a goal scorer. The Club has decided to sign him but in principle he’ll go out on loan. I won’t be counting on him for this season.”

Keirrison is going to be a star for a long time. I would be stunned not to see him on the national team within the next year. Roma and Valencia are two rumored locations for Keirrison’s loan options. Barca will be keen to see him start wherever he plays

According to his agent FC Porto and Ajax are leading the race. I feel AJax would be the best destination over Porto. Porto play 3 up front and competing with Falcao, Hulk and Rodriguez will be hard for him. While Ajax have Sullejmani and Suarez.

Thanks for the comment Joel. I agree Ajax would be a nice fit, he would see a great deal of time there. I also agreed with your comments about Porto not being a good fit at this time. I think Barca will be careful not to loan him out to club without absolute assurances that he will be on the pitch every match.
