Kevin Kuranyi has 2 left legs?

February 20th, 2006 | By: Euler Costa | No Comments »

The Brazilian forward that is going to play for Germany in June was bashed by Sepp Maier. The German goalkeeper coach was here in Rio in an event that the World Cup commission promoted. The event had the presence of Beckenbauer, Zagallo and Lothar Matthäus also. Sepp said these kind words about Kevin: “If he were playing in Brazil he would be in a B team. It’s like he has two left legs. He can’t kick.”

Sepp Maier (62 yo) is the legendary German goalkeeper that played four consecutive World Cups (66 to 78), having lifted the trophy in 1974. He won many other European championships and German titles too. But he is also famous for his hard words. How can a guy from the team’s commission say something like this about one of its players? Is it wise? Shouldn’t he be talking about goalkeepers? Does he not trust the coach’s decisions? It would be nice to know the Germans opinions about him.

At least he was kind to our goalkeeper Dida, saying that he and Oliver Kahn were at the same level. About the Brazilian defender Lucio, he said that he is a real warrior, fighting 90 minutes for his team. So it seems that he can be really kind too.
