Maradona: No Regrets

April 30th, 2006 | By: Euler Costa | 7 Comments »

No Regrets Maradona was really mad about the criticism he got after doing the Guaraná Antarctica commercial. It seems that many Argentineans were furious after seeing the shocking image of Diego with the Canarinho uniform. He stated to the Argentinean newpaper ‘La Nacion’ these words: “All the ‘putos’ that speak today because I put the t-shirt of Brazil are just that, ‘putos’. With the pardon of those, whom I respect a lot. I would never wear a shirt of River. Although I have one of Passarella and another one of Francéscoli, it would never use it”.

My question is: what does ‘putos’ means, male prostitutes, homosexuals or both? I got confused reading this site. Either way, I think he was a little too harsh on his own fans.

Of course he is no crazy man and probably knows that if you play with fire you might get burnt, right? I read a behind-the-scenes report that he loved to do the commercial. What we can’t see is that the shirts had his name written behind. It seems that he was so well humored that took 3 shirts home. Another piece of back stage information: The three players were not together to record the images. Their personal schedule forced the commercial producers to mix them in post-production effects.

Here’s the reason why Maradonna will never get to high reponsabilities. I mean he’ll never be the Argentina trainer because he can’t control what he says.

Maradona was the greatest player ever! However that does not make him a good human being. Lets be honest in that if he had not been great at soccer he would probably not even be alive now or maybe in jail and I love the guy. Dale Argentina!
