Milan 0 x 1 Barça - 1st Leg
I’m a little disappointed about the game. Great moves, great chances, but I didn’t like neither the final score nor the Brazilian participation on it. Ok, Ronaldinho served Giuly ‘the French’ with a very cool pass, than he shot a great ball to the left post of Dida, than he humiliated some poor guy with a ball over his head, but nothing much more than this.
Kaka was not very inspired, I think. He had 2 great moments in the game that could be converted into goals: first a perfect pass to Gilardino that missed the easiest goal in the game, second he dribbled a defender ‘por debaixo das canetas’ (under the pens = between the legs) and was face to face with Victor Valdés, but missed.
Not every Brazilian I mentioned before was really a starter in this game (blame the sites for hard-to-read information) but they ended up playing as well, plus Edmilson that I didn’t mention. Oops!
Now the Dida affair: he can be blamed for Giuly’s goal, unfortunately. I don’t like to bash our players like that, but I like to try being neutral about most things, like this game, for instance. He is a very shy guy, a very focused goalkeeper, but I can tell you this (breaking news), all the football experts on TV and most of the 170 million Brazilian coaches, like myself, are demanding Rogerio Ceni to play this World Cup. As I said before, let Julio Cesar learn how a World Cup is played, let Dida ‘the Experienced’ to be the second keeper, but let Rogerio Ceni build his spider web in our box. HE IS A DEFENDER AS WELL!!! Oh the humanity….
Eto’o is one of the best players I’ve ever seen. Probably he’s going to get next year award as best player of the year, but he missed a lot of opportunities in this game. Shevchenko was there? I didn’t see him, sorry.
The other Brazilians were ok, but this is the kind of difficulty Brazil will meet at the World Cup this year. The guys from Lyon did their job, now I want to see more from Kaka and Ronaldinho.

Yeah, the ‘names’ really did not do very much in this game. Ronaldinho, for his skill and ability, did not really showcase it very much. Shevchenko was stopped in his tracks but I thought Kaka played well. He definately showed his vision and briliance on the field several times. The missed shot from 3 meters was pretty bad…but then I think you can almost excuse that on the nerves and to much adrenalin at the end of the game trying to catch up.
I was watching the game on ESPN Desportes. There is a spanish cometator there that keeps calling Ronaldinho ‘Jar Jar Binks’. Almost every time he touches the ball, this guy calls him Jar Jar Binks… I dunno where ESPN gets these people, but I think a little bit of professionalism should be excersized.
I can hardly wait for the world cup…Jar Jar Binks is runnig towards Shrek..Shrek makes a slide tackle and the ball is now in the possesion of Fatso(Ronaldo).

Ronaldinho played a solid game. He set up that goal nicely.
Adriano just didn’t have his game. He seems to be a very up and down type of player. When things are going his way he is awesome. When he struggles he disappears.
Dida always makes me feel a little shaky. I like your analysis.

Dont look now but the Brazilians are getting tired just in time for the World Cup. Sometimes winning has its disadvantages.
Go Argentina!

Yeah, that’s Englands excuse for blowing every tournament. ‘We’re tired, we play longer that the other leagues, we’re in CL’ Blah, blah, blah….You’re professional players making millions of dollars per year. Suck it up.

That’s no excuse, I think. They’ll have at least 3 weeks to rest and to get ready.

[...] Now we will see these two super teams meet again, Milan and Barcelona. I already wrote a lot about them and I have very few things to add this time. I would like to warn them all about Gilberto Silva, one of the merciless defenders of the Arsenal team. The guy was unstoppable! [...]
