News and Notes

Ex-Internacional midfielder Alex transfered to Spartak Moscow last week, and made his first appearance for the club this Sunday against Zenit St. Petersburg. Alex was arguably the best overall player in the Brazilian Championship last season, especially in the second half on the season. However, I don’t believe this move was necessary to increase his profile for more national team call ups. Dunga has shown a willingness to look for talent in the Russian league, so Alex should not be any worse off in this respect.

In other news, during his match against Siena this weekend, Kaka re-aggravated his foot injury in his first appearance returning from that injury. Its unclear how long he will be out, and whether Dunga will have to replace him for the qualifiers. Should this happen look for the above mentioned Alex or Diego to get the call. Diego scored his ninth Bundesliga goal this weekend against Stuttgart.

I’m amazed Diego didn’t make the original squad. Are Elano and Baptista really better options than Diego?

Elano is definately a better option. His form for the national team has been outstanding. Baptista you could make the argument should not have been called over Diego because of his recent form, he rebounded this weekend however scoring two at Sampdoria.

despite that I still do not think Baptista is National team Quality, he had that one great moment in the Copa America againts Argentina but i think he’s grossly overrated, he’s more of a foward the midfielder anyhow. on the other hand Diego & Elano are both class players but when you have guys like R10 and Kaka at your disposal its hard for the Bremen man to break into the first team. Sorry for my lack of activity on here & B.R Duvel, School, S.A.T’s and stuff leave me with little blogging time.

No prob Samuel, I know how the SAT stuff goes. I agree with you about Baptista. Roma plays him as a forward because of his problems distributing the ball. Baptista just killed me by not being able to finish during the Champions League matchup.
