News and Notes

This Thursday Dunga is supposed to announce the initial squad for the Ecuador and Peru qualifiers. I’ll have those names posted as soon as they are announced. Luis Fabiano just came back from injury last week, coming on as a second half substitute in two matches. It will be interesting to see if he gets the call for the team so soon after returning.

Apparently Dunga has been taking a hard look at 22 year old Porto forward Hulk (Givanildo Vieira de Souza), who has 8 goals in 20 appearances for the club. This is his first full season with Porto after spending a couple of years loaned out to Japanese clubs. UEFA listed him as one of the 10 rising stars in the Champions League. I had him rated behind the forwards listed as reserves in the positional breakdown, however it would not be a shock to see him get the call.

Finally, after scoring one goal, Ronaldo, Dunga, and the Brazilian press have already started the speculation about another chance with the national team. All I will say on this…you’ve got to be kidding. Dunga said he would consider him, “If he can be the same Ronaldo he was before.” When Ronaldo loses about 15 pounds and cuts down on the Sao Paulo night life then let’s talk.

I watched a Uefa magazine special on Hulk and he seems to be a very promising player, a strong striker of the ball who also has good physical dominance & control on the ball ala Walter and Adriano. Dunga should by all means give him a look, i dont like Jo and if this guy impresses he should replace the Everton boy permanently. lol at what you said about Ronaldo..i agree 100%, im worried about Kaka though who is still out of action for Milan im curious about his role in this one.

I think someone has to replace Jo, either Hulk or Keirrison. I was really surprised about Jo’s stuggles however. I really thought he was going to have a big year this season, sometimes it takes a player a full season to adjust to the EPL. Man City would be foolish to give up on him.

Jo has Quality & loads of potential but he hasnt developed into the player i expected he would. i dont know his poor performances at city puzzled me because thier was loads of Quality around him to help him grow into a class player. Elano, Robinho, Wright Phillips..Ireland etc, i hope the loan to Everton will put him in the right direction. for now he’s not National Team Quality so i hope Dunga tries out Keeirison or Hulk.
