Olympic Journey: Brazil 5 New Zealand 0; Ronaldinho’s Smile appears!!!
After all the debacle of game 1 and mixed with the alteration of Brazil’s strip (removing the CBF logo), Brazil owed the fans a performance. I didn’t see the match live; (I was a bit partyed out from the night before to really get up for it), but from what I read and saw it was very promising. Ronaldinho had a positive match scored twice and of course his smile appeared. Heck the game was against a bunch of real Olympians (amateurs) from New Zealand, but hey we all need an easy pick me up game to realize who we are. I am not going to get carried away like this is the second coming, but it now is the improvement we all wanted to see. Watching the highlights reels he was picking the ball up and running with it, taking some players on, the tricks were coming and throughout the match he was improving. Pato also improved to scoring one and setting up the first for Anderson, who also was given a lot of praise for a much improved performance from game 1. The midfield in my opinion still looked disorganised and against better teams we will see how Brazil has improved. Ronaldinho’s performance was capped off by 2 goals, one by a grass cutter free-kick finding its way through the box and with his own inter-play which got him a penalty in which he converted. His best piece of skill in my book was his fake and pass to Lucas who slid in the ball to Sobis to finish a niece move for Brazil.
I am not sure how Dunga’s men as a whole team played as I didn’t watch it live, but I still hold my perceptions they were disorganised. Marcelo was brilliant again a real gem and our future LB for sure. Diego didn’t get that much comments but I reckon it was again a bleak performance, in my opinion he can only play centrally, play him next to Hernanes or bench him because Brazil needs to play with more width and cutting edge, Again the man to do this is Thiago Neves. But the man of the hour was Roanaldinho, and that smile in which I haven’t seen for a while hopefully is permanently back and he keeps getting better and better.
