Parreira’s Selection to face Russia

February 14th, 2006 | By: Euler Costa | 5 Comments »

It seems that Brazil will display it’s full firepower against Russia in March/1st. The friendly match will be a good experiment for the team, and Cicinho is really going to have an opportunity to show what he can do with the yellow shirt. Cafu will be recovering from a small surgery on his left knee.

I don’t know forward Fred, but I hope not to see him playing. We’ll have the complete quartet to watch, but Parreira may choose to test other players as well so I’m not expecting much from this game. It would be great to see the complete quintet too, maybe to test our defenses. If there is a time to lose, this would be it, right?

It would be also nice to see Julio Cesar start playing. Between him and Dida I say JC. About the other players, Parreira knows what he is doing.

Here is the complete list:

Goalkeepers:
Dida (Milan)
Julio Cesar (Internazionale)

Defenders:
Lúcio (Bayern de Munique)
Juan (Bayer Leverkusen)
Cris (Lyon)
Luisão (Benfica)

Wingers:
Cicinho (Real Madrid)
Maicon (Mônaco)
Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid)
Gustavo Nery (Corinthians)

Midfielders:
Emerson (Juventus)
Edmílson (Barcelona)
Gilberto Silva (Arsenal)
Zé Roberto (Bayern de Munique)
Kaká (Milan)
Juninho Pernambucano (Lyon)
Ronaldinho Gaúcho (Barcelona)
Ricardinho (Corinthians)

Forwards:
Ronaldo (Real Madrid)
Robinho (Real Madrid)
Adriano (Internazionale)
Fred (Lyon)

At last Cris is given a chance with the “selecao”. Since in play for Lyon last year, he has been unbelievable. We call him ” the policeman ” because no one getting past him on the ground as in the air, he is so strong. I known he’s getting into the team because Roque Junior is injured, but I really think you should take him to Germany.
And i’m very happy as well to see Juninho and Fred in the selection even so they are stuggling a bit at the moment. That gives credit to my team Lyon who as a love affair with brazilian players, evr since Marcello played for us in the 90.Allez OLodum….vai bailar !

Unfortunately we don’t have French football on TV here in Brazil as we have Spanish, so I hardly ever hear news about Lyon.

Well you don’t miss anything about the french league. It’s really crap with all the teams playing to take no goals. Very, very boring with this year an average of less than 2 goals per game. France is the new heaven for catenaccio !
Only Lyon plays a pleasant football and we’re heading for a fifth consecutive title !
But maybe you’ve seen some moments from the Champion’s league like the beating of Real at Gerland (our stadium) 3-0 with two free-kicks from Juninho.

Euler, I give you some news from our brazilians internationals from Lyon. Juninho and Fred have both scored last night in the 3-1 victory against Nantes in the league. Juninho scored his 25 free-kick for us in his fifht season at the club ! He is the best free-kick scorer in the world, believe me. And he seems to get better now than the hard winter months are finishing (he is traditionnaly less good during these periods of frozen pitches). As for Cris, he has been the traditional king of our defence. Next Tuesday, it’s back to the Champion’s League and a revanche against PSV… The finale this year is in Paris at the Stade de France ( Brazil got some souvenir from that stadium ! ) and I hope we are on route for Paris, that would give you maybe the chance to see more from my team.
Allez l’ OL ! OLodum vai bailar !

Brazilians seems to be very apreciated around European teams! That’s a huge pleasure for us to know. Today I was watching CNN and, by chance, I saw Lyon’s victory. It was very cool to see this Fred scoring. Finnaly! Congrats to you and I!
