Parreira is worried too!!! Nice!!!
I knew already that Parreira is very competent and a veteran when it comes to World Cup competitions. He was there in 1994 to get our fourth title. Not only that, but he led other 3 unlikely teams to the great event as well: Kuwait (82), Arab Emirates (90) and Saudi Arabia (98). We must respect a guy with that career history.
Now he is worried, thinking that Brazil has slim chances to get our Hexa. What? Yes I know, he is swimming against the stream on this. And I thank the football Gods that he thinks like that. As I said so many times before, the favoritism (oba-oba mood) will be the Selection’s doom if not treated properly before the tournament.
Parreira thinks like me in many aspects. We Brazilians breathe football, and one thing we learn at very young age is that nobody wins before the game is finished. We can lose! Teams like Japan, Croatia and Australia CAN have a good day and we can have a bad day. The Canarinhos player’s minds must be focused and prepared for anything.
The issue that Parreira and I disagree the most is about the Rivaldo talent. Most people like him but I remember thinking “Oh no! Don’t give him the ball!!! Another attack wasted!!! Damn!”
We don’t see eye to eye about goalkeepers too. I think Dida is history. Still a great great goalkeeper, but Rogerio Ceni deserves to be in this Selection.
Here in Brazil we use a funny expression to describe what Parreira was trying to say. He is performing a “João sem braço” kind of speech. “John without arms” is a Brazilian expression that reveals that he doesn’t want to state his true opinion about that particular issue. That’s why he isn’t able to point the main rival among the other 31 teams.
Let’s face it… Brazilians are a football powerhouse, but Togo or/and Japan can rise up to the challenge and become … well … I don’t know…
Don’t drink and drive!!!

We all know that the team that puts the most fear in Brasil is Argentina. They are the only other team that has the talent level that Brasil has. People all think that Brasil is a heavy favorite but I think that the players know that if Argentina and Brasil played ten times they would probably split the games. An Argentina vs Brasil final would be awsome but what might stop that is the fact the the tournament is in Europe so chances are that a European team will also reach the final. Most likely England or Italy. The coach will not say but he knows that Argentina is the biggest threat to Brasil retaining the title.

Hey Todd, why the Confederations Cup (Germany) final was Brazil and Argentina? Anyway, thanks for the comment. I can’t disagree when you say that Argentina is our great concern in this Cup. Italy and England will work hard too and strange Germany will have the stadium advantage, so… no predictions from me, sorry.

Three weeks before the confederations cup argentina played Brasil off the field. I knew when I saw the team that Argentina was sending to the confederations cup that Argentina would not do well. Mexico should have also beat argentina in that tournament. But you have to remmeber that Pekerman is more kean on making sure that he give everyone a chance at making the squad. I believe that when the final 15 top guys all play iin the world cup you will see a much better defensive Argentina as they have been historically. The difference with this tournament is I think that Argentina has the best strike force that it has had since 1986.
