Petkovic overrated BIG TIME!!

Our main man Bob called to my attention this text about Dejan Petkovic. Dejan? That’s funny. I’ve never heard this name before. Like many Brazilians players, we call everyone by the nickname. The TV people call him only Petkovic, never Dejan. After a couple of years the Brazilians would call him Pet. Just Pet.

When I read the title “Brazilians crazy about Dejan Petkovic” a sarcastic grin blossomed on my face. Under the title was the real joke and suddenly I was LMAO. Trust me when I say this: Pet really is a very good player, but he is no Zico.

From what I’ve heard he is going to play for Serbia Montenegro this year. He deserves it. He had some issues before, but I believe it’s all in the past. This Pet guy really is amongst the best. He played for big teams here in Brazil like Flamengo, Vasco and now Fluminense. The article is weird, but from the few truths on it, we can say that he really was one of the best in 2005 Brazilian National Championship. But so was Tevez and we can’t compare these guys to the real deal super players like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Romario, Zico, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Adriano, Robinho and Kaka.

The main disinformation on that text is this: “Brazilians keep on saying that he should become a naturalized Brazilian in order to play for the Seleção.” The person who wrote this was absolutely delusional. I’ve never heard anything like this. I asked around and people were very eloquent when they answered “ha ha ha”. If you know any Brazilians, please ask them.

He was one the best in our latest championship, but our main players were in Europe. We produce the greatest talents in the beautiful sport and no Brazilian would even consider foreign help in this matter. Anybody can check if we ever needed outside aid. We don’t need it. I can’t predict what will happen in the future, but, for now, we are OK. (add “Ho-say” if you speak Spanish or if you are a stereotypical American)
