Player Profile: Kaka

It’s funny how this guy became such a great player in such a meteoric fashion. To be honest, here at Rio were not used to see him playing, because he were in a team from São Paulo and we did not have interest in their games, unless in the national championship when he played against our own team, but he never impressed me at those opportunities. He began playing pro in 2001 and in 2003 he signed with Milan. That was fast, and then he showed everybody how good he was.

I know all of you must know by now the origin of his strange nickname. His little brother was starting to talk, but could not handle his real name (Ricardo), so he called him Cacá. Sounds like shit in your country? Here too, but it would be cáca (strong at the first a). But he grew up being called like that and the association isn’t that strong anyway.

His team here in Brazil was São Paulo, one of the biggest in our country, so obviously he had a great legion of fans. Even so he became more famous here because of the teen girls reaction to his looks than because of his footballer talent. Thank God that didn’t stop him from keep playing great football.

Kaka is a nice guy, very religious, very family man. You can see that he points his fingers to the sky when he scores a goal. He does that to thank Jesus for healing him from a very serious injury that could end his footballer career.

He works very well as a midfielder and as a scorer, so his versatile youth will have a major role in Germany’s World Cup.
