Practice Against Lucerne
Today our team will play against Lucerne, a Swiss mix assembled from a second division team. Mixed? Second division? Nice. I really was hoping for our team not to get involved in any tough matches in order to prevent any risk of injury. Parreira said he was not expecting any spectacular outcome from this game once the team is not ready yet. But between you and me, this must be an easy game or not even a ‘game game’, more of a deluxe practice.
Now the sad side of the story: I was reading today’s paper and I found out that the Lucerne ensemble will have two Argentinean players, Santiago Kuhl and Jose Luis Mamone. I really don’t trust these ‘muchachos’ to be well intended towards our players. It will probably be more dangerous than to play against Makelele.
Other international players will be there too: Jean-Michel Tchouga from Cameroon, N’Tiamoah Edmond from Ghana and Luis Calapes from Portugal will play as well. Jean said “It’s a dream come true. To play against Ronaldinho and his companions will be grand. We have a good team this year but I think that this time against Brazil will be a little hard”.
At least the FC Lucerne is the champion of that second league. The game will be in the St. Jakobs Stadium in Basel. If you find yourself in the vicinities of Basel, don’t forget to check the Bachfest!
Parreira can say that he is not expecting a great performance from the team at this point, but that’s just ‘coach talk’. If Brazil scores less than one dozen goals I will be worried. I’m joking!!! But I expect a solid win, naturally. Anything else will be a clear sign that Brazil will be doomed this year. (Darth Vader theme)
What do you say to an artist before they get on stage? DON’T ANSWER IT!!! Don’t give them any ideas!

The great thing about games like this, which are quite rare actually, and that too, televised, is that you get to sit back for once knwoing that you won’t be in for a goalless draw.

I just hope nobody has to be carried out of the pitch.
Anyhow, it’ll be the first time Parreira will use the ‘fantastic four’ in a more-or-less real match this year, so I think we’ll get to see some interesting combination, and specially how they’ll be positioned on the pitch. To see if Ronaldinho will play like he played at Barcelona and if Kaka will have to run too much to help defense.
Let’s also hope the defenders are a bit more seriously this time around. On the match against the Fluminense youth squad they were a bit too lenient.

Euler, just for the record: N’Tiamoah Edmond’s nationality is French. Not that anyone cares now that Lucerne lost as expected. ![]()

Oh, sorry! I read in a Brazilian newspaper he was from Ghana.

Cariben~o, Ntiamoah is 100% Ghanaian. Being born or naturalized in a different country does not change anything. He may don the french jersey one day, that doesnt change what runs within his veins. All Ghanaian.
