Pre-Chile News and Notes
I will have a preview of Wednesday’s match sometime tomorrow night. There is a bit of news about the team going into the Chile match. First of all, due to yellow card suspensions, Lúcio, Ramires, Kaká, and Luis Fabiano are all out of this match. Secondly, Robinho suffered a thigh muscle injury against Argentina and he is officially out of the match as well.
Dunga has responded by calling André Dias (São Paulo), Cleiton Xavier (Palmeiras), Diego Souza (Palmeiras), and Diego Tardelli (Atlético Mineiro) to the national team. I know some will be mad that Pato and Diego did not get these call ups. To be honest with you, I would have preferred this as well. However, with Brazil officially qualified I don’t mind some other players getting a look.
André Dias is probably São Paulo’s best defender. Diego Souza is a very talented player, but known for his temper more than anything else (see the You Tube clip from this year’s Paulista Championship above). Cleiton Xavier has had a nice season in the Brazilian league as well. Finally, we are already familiar with Diego Tardelli from his previous call up. Who starts Wednesday is anyone’s guess.
Pato and Diego would be tired by flying in so short time, they didn’t expect it to happen it’s better if Dunga call them for the last 2 remaining world cup qualifiersi hope he gives players like Denilson(Arsenal) Hulk (Porto) there’s no question about Pato (Milan) and Diego (Juventus) they have to be there no matter what

Thanks for the rule clarification Bruno. I think the CBF got these call ups more than the 48 hours before the match. They posted it are their website yesterday around 9:20, and the match Wednesday is at 9. I assume they made the calls more than 20 minutes before posting.
Cannot understand why Dunga would chose Lucas from Liverpool over Denilson from Arsenal. Both play similar roles, similar in size but Denilson does only have better ability but is having a better season than Lucas.

The reason Dunga called only domestic players is that FIFA (or Conmebol) has a rule against calling overseas players in the last minute ( I’m not sure about the time frame, but I believe it is 48 hours before the match).
