Romario to USA
It is very nice to see that our shorty still have such passionate fans around the globe. I am a big fan myself, but I’m not as big as Gute. Thanks, man, for writing one side of the Romario soap opera “Goals of our lives”. While you can read the striker’s great feats in Gute’s comment, I’ll tell you the other side of the story.
In a collective press interview Romario stood still and silent for about 30 minutes while the Vasco president Eurico Miranda explained his future. Romario is going to play in the USL Professional Soccer league for Miami, where his 1994 WC colleague Zinho also plays. For what I know, this USL league isn’t the major league in the US. So he will be playing really easy games with his friend Zinho that is a master server to strikers. Lucky Romario, right?
But that’s not all. This team Miami belongs to Traffic a Brazilian sports marketing company that is selling Romario’s 1000th goal as the great attraction to the season. At the same time Vasco’s president guaranteed that in this big moment Romario will be wearing the Vasco shirt. Eurico said “If he gets close to the 1000th goal his return will be immediate”. What? I didn’t understand that too. Will he try to get to the 999th goal and stop scoring? Well, he always can say that he is injured and stop playing like he frequently does here.
I’m not here trying to put down Romario’s good name (he is doing it himself) I’m just telling what I know.

Pretty words Euler… But, claims always will have, in all time.
Romário does not need to show more nothing to nobody. He is consecrated world-wide. He is going to United States just to reach the magical number of the 1000 gols.
Until September, the Vasco´s trainer(Renato Gaucho) will be dismissed, and the GOD will come back to the Vasco to TO the thousandth goal. In the biggest stadium of the world, the MARACANÃ!
We are in countdown for the thousandth goal.

While USL is not a top flight league, it won’t be a walk in the park for Romario. The league does crazy things like make the teams play back-to-back games and three games in four nights. The playing surfaces aren’t great. Miami’s team is also brand new so there is the possibility the team will be really, really bad even with a pair of legends.

Gute forgot to say that would be against Flamengo.

And Luis Paulo will remember that Pele’s 1000th goal was against his Vasco, right?
Gute, don’t get upset. I said I agree with you. It seems that you are not reading what my opinion right. I think he doesn’t need to prove anything for anybody, but Romario sems to think otherwise.
I think he is so good that you can tie one of his legs to his back that he will still sail above the American teams.

Euler… I understand you. But, you are bad when says: “What? I didn’t understand that too. Will he try to get to the 999th goal and stop scoring? Well, he always can say that he is injured and stop playing like he frequently does here.” Romário NEVER does this.
I´m not Vascaino. I would like more, if Romário made the thousandth goal using the Flamengo´s shirt, therefore it is the biggest teams of Brazil, perhaps one of the greaters of the world.
More than this, I would like more if he made the thousandth goal against Argentina in the Maracanã, using the Brazilian Nation Team´s shirt and thus retiring.

Sorry Gute, but Romario only plays when he wants. Ask Luis Paulo, he is Vascaino. Everything else you said about him I agree.

Well, it’s not true. Romario plays everyweek. Just go to the “Clube de Caça e Pesca” at Barra da Tijuca and you will find him there every monday.
However, at Vasco it’s true. He only play when he feels like it.

“Well, it’s not true. Romario plays everyweek. Just go to the “Clube de Caça e Pesca” at Barra da Tijuca and you will find him there every monday.” kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
You forgot them futevolei´s games.
40 YEARS!!! Romário cannot play everyweek. It´s would be a nonsense, even so he has a shape of 18 years.
If Romário opposite to play soccer, prefers to fun itself in the night, prefers to play futevolei, to “catch” the women, if he does not want to train… Everything he conquered to the long one of career. It is a merit !!
Romario only plays when he wants. But he never dissimulated a bruise, injured, for not to play.

I am amazed that Romario is playing in the same low level league as my hometown team. I am dismayed that I will be in Germany when his Miami team plays here. I would love to see him play on this pitch and in the clubs!

Romario is the biggest soccer player of the world, just under Pelé. I wish that he can make much goals in Miami F.C, and, after, could come back to Brazil to make the thousand goal, i am a big fan of Romario, he is THE MAN.

[...] He has reportedly turned down a 10-year, $120 million offer to play for Red Bull New York in Major League Soccer. That would buy a lot of pizza, but can you imagine him playing for another ten years? I have a hard time picturing him playing as 39-year-old in the U.S., but I probably said the same thing about Romario ten years ago. [...]
