Ronaldinho Acclaimed! Again?
It’s great to know that Ronaldinho is being highly praised by all media. Apparently he is not being affected by this. He is still playing his smile-style football and making every one smile too. The best part of it is to know that he will be playing in our team! What would you expect? We are very proud that he is an heir of Brazilian tradition of great footballers. Today he is the main symbol of our presence in the sport, like Romario was in 1994. I read an article in the Evening Times online that just filled my chest with pride and inspired me to write about Ronaldinho again.
Following this inspiration, I went “quote hunting” on his performance for the Milan-Barça game:
“The world is a ball at his feet” – O Globo (Brazil)
“He is magic, give goals and even laughs” – Marca (Spain)
“Just when we thought the art had been lost forever, the gift of fun was restored to football in Milan the other night. The world’s most gifted footballer played with a smile on his face.” – Evening Times (US)
“Ronaldinho outshines even Kaka. He dribbled and performed moves of the highest class that deserved the opponents’ applause.” – Corriere dello Sport (Italy)
“Ronaldinho left Milan senseless. Barça won in the San Siro thanks to his magic and his assist for Giuly. Half a meter of space, half a second of time and Ronaldinho put Barça halfway to the final.” Gazetta dello Sport (Italy)
“Ronaldinho amuses himself and us on the pitch” – Tuttosport (Italy)
“Ronaldinho will be the best in the World Cup” – Franz Beckenbauer
“Oh la la!” – cover of Mundo Deportivo (Spain) – This one is funny.
“To observe the Brazilian is always rewarding. Everything he does is important.” – Mundo Deportivo (Spain)

All this fuss after that 1:0 victory over Milan. I can’t wait to see him playing at his home field Nou Camp.

Let’s just pray he plays like that in the World Cup. And that nobody in the team gets jealous of the attention Ronaldinho is getting.

Frankly, what else can you say when the world’s best player is also the player with the greatest, most infectious attitude? That’s a rare combination. Smiling, scoring and making goals? The world says, Yes and Thank you.

I like that Ronaldinho plays in the big games like if he is on a beach playing with its friends.
I think that why he doesn’t feel all the pressure like Ronaldo did in France.. cheers rapais, I hope that one of those guys had born in Paraguay ![]()

To Gui: I think he has more to offer than what he showed against Milan. Some other player may be jealous, but they can only hope to win this year and write their names in the Brazilian football hall of fame.
Trent: I think you translated the feeling of most football fans. You can feel that football is not a business for Ronaldinho.
As Daniel said, he seems to be playing with his friends, having fun with the ball.
If he wins this year he will take Pele’s throne. I’ve been reading about him every day, and we must thank the football gods that we have a magician among other players.
Thanks for the comments!!!

8 years back I thought I had seen anything by watching Ronaldo play in France 1998. I could never believe how wrong I´ve been. Today Ronaldinho is doing even crazier stuff even faster. Stunning.

Euler–this is off topic, but I heard that Tele Santana has died. I’ll check around the web for confirmation, but that’s sad if true.

It is true. He was a great man. I’ll write about him today.

When I read Trent’s comment I said yes that’s it. In this world of inflated egos, spoiled sports brats and hyped undeserving athletes Ronaldinho is a guy you just plain like and admire. Euler you go ahead and be proud, heck I’m proud to see the great press he gets and I’m not Brazilian. To me if Ronaldinho and Brazil falter for any reason that doesn’t diminish the great soccer ability assembled and worldwide interest they bring to the sport. Ronaldinho is definitely heir apparent to the great Pele.

Great words Kapcro! I hate to see the those filthy rich players who are “spoiled sports brats and hyped undeserving athletes”. Thanks for the sharing your feelings!
Thank you too Stacy and Knut! It’s great to share my opinion with you.
Thanks Trent for pointing me to the Tele sad issue. I was “offline” this whole afternoon. I hope you like my post about him.
