Rooney Relieves Brazil? Ha!
Is England our number one problem this year? According to Jack, from ‘Vital Football’ web site they are. Well, I’m not very fond of gambling of any kind, but he seemed to be proud to be second best at the betting scale. Ok, I can dig that because I went trough many betting sites and they all have England at the second position. Germany, Argentina, Italy and France are shifting from third to sixth positions. Is it a clear view of the reality or is it a twisted vision created by the media madness ruling England?
After the Sven-Scolari mess I came to the conclusion that the English are ruled by the (bad) media. Tony? Liz? The Parliament? Nah, ‘The Sun’ has fondled with their water and now they worship the ‘blings’ of Beckham and the words of Rooney. So this is one explanation to their number two position: power of the press.
Why am I saying this? Wayne Rooney got injured, right? This Jack thinks he knows what goes on in a Brazilian mind. He wrote: “From a Brazilian point of view it was delightful (football wise of course) to see.” Unfortunately (for him) I don’t expect England to be our number one problem.
Say we pass the first round; we would get Czech Republic or Italy. These two teams are more threatening to me than England already. Then I believe we would meet one of these: Tunisia, Spain, France or South Korea. I know I’m getting polemical here, but I would say France and Tunisia are just as dangerous as England. If England plays like Arsenal and Brazil plays like Barcelona, I’m not worried.
Portugal is a new found strength in the football world these days and we must consider it too, but Germany is at home, Argentina is always dangerous and Holland is full of surprises. That is where my fears reside. I believe the ones we fear the most are these last three. Semi-final of final, I would not want to meet these guys. Or I want to meet them and win, of course. That would be sweet.
So Rooney is injured? Don’t worry, he will play. Maybe not in his top condition but he will be there. I don’t mind.

[...] They aren’t rejoicing about Rooney’s injury in Brazil (Brazil Blog) [...]

I think you are mistaken. I am Brazilian but I do follow English football quite a bit. They have a lot more talent than 2002. Gerrard and Lampard are 2 very solid midfielders that can defend well and score goals and Rooney is really a sensational player and IMO is the X factor they sorely need.
They may not have proven it yet, but their team is loaded with talent and can be considered a major contender. Their main weakness is their coach.

I must be honest with you, Celo, I don’t personaly know anyone who follows the English championship. I watched two or three games and they seem to be satified to win 1:0 result. But if you say we should worry, probably I watched the wrong games.

@euler: check your fellow dutch supporting brazil: http://www.torcidaholandesa.com/

The english game definitely takes getting used to it. The main teams don’t really play that old long ball game anymore. It’s a lot of coordinated passing and runs.
I definitely think this group they have is a lot better than 2002. What their players usually don’t have is that thing that ours have, the willingless to do whatever it takes to win and an ability to improvise. From my point of view, they usually lack that fire that is essential to win. Rooney is the type of player you can tell has that fire. So it is a big loss for them.
I do believe we are the main favorites to win it. And I think England, Italy, and the Dutch are in the second group of contenders.

I think that you forgot your favorite old rival, you know the one with Aimar, Messi, Tevez, Riquelme, Zanetti, . Brasil is an overblown , over rated team this World Cup that better score a lot of goals because heaven knows they are going to give up a lot of goals! Go Argentina. How can you leave them off the favorites list celo? Argentina is probably the only other team with the talent and skill level of Brasil. Plus they have some defenders that can actually run fast. Brasil has the oldest back for since the New York Cosmos vs Brasil Pele retirement game. Watch brasil this World Cup is absolutely not for sure no matter what Nike says. garantee s

My prediction for group
Netherlads, Serbia…in
Argentina, IC…out.
Utah> your whole team success is dependant on Riquelme. Good luck with that.

How can you say the whole team is dependent on Riquelme. I will give you a starting 11 without Riquelme. Crespo and Tevez. Messi and Aimar attacking mid. Sorin and Maxi defensive mid. Heinze, Zanetti, Ayala and Sammuel defense plus goalie. I think this team would do fine and if Riquleme does not perform you pull him but I think that he will perform. You have to remember that he took a small market Villreal to the semis. Think how Riquelme will do surrounded by more talent. How far would Villreal have gone without Riquelme? I think that you know the answer. So if Argentina and Brasil formed one team who would start more players? I would argue that only Rohnaldino and the goalie would even break the starting line up. Go Argentina Brazil overrated.

My God, Richard! That’s hillarious!!! Marco and Marko!!!
Their accent is robotic! But it is fun to watch them looking to hook up with the bikini girls.

I don’t really think that Riquelme alone took Vill. to the Semi’s. I’d say the Forlan and Sorin had something to do with this. Although I think that Riq. is a superb playmaker…this year, he has been highly over-rated.
Ronaldinho is the only player you would take???That’s crazytalk. Between the two teams, who do you think has a higher chance of succeeding. A team that seems to enjoy playing together(Brazil) or a team that is constantly bickering about something…

So MR. Euler>>>>>I hear you had an interesting day today. Care to share any new insights?

Bob whispered something already?
It was a great day for me. I didn’t have dinner with anyone, but I surely had a very interesting meeting today.
All I can say by now is that my next post is long. I’m having a blast writing it, so I hope people enjoy reading it.
Thanks Soze!

I can hardly wait for the post! I can imagine all the things you have to say, you’re probably going crazy with it. Maybe split it into two posts.
Thursday will be an exciting day for me….I’ll defenitely write about it.
C’mon Euler…e-mail me how you scooped this.

I’ll have to split it in three posts, unfortunately.
How I scooped this will be explained int the first of the 3 posts. Not a big deal compared to DINING with a legendary striker, right?
I can’t wait to read your post about it!!! Congrats!!!

The reason why I don’t think Argentina is a main favorite is because they don’t even know who is going to play. The team is very undefined right now and they have had questionable performances as of late giving lots of goals (3 x 2 loss to Croatia and England and 4 x 1 to Brazil). I really question the team’s psychological strength. The defense which is usually pretty solid is looking worse than Brazil’s.
Riquelme is a great player, but IMO, he can’t lead the team to victory. He seems to buckly under pressure and is easily marked out of a game. I would play Veron instead.
For Argentina to have a chance, Tevez and Messi are going to have to be huge (keep in mind Messi’s injury is taking a lot longer to heal because he came back to training too early). Because I don’t think any other players has what it takes.

Is Australia up there with the teams which Brazil should most be fearing? If not, we should be. Grrr. You stole our uniform colours too. ![]()

I must be honest with you, Matt: we are worried about every team we must play against.
About the colours… I grrr you! Our colours are in our flag!!!!
Your flag colour is the same as England and USA (please don’t get ill). Shame on you to claim our flag colors!!!
Good luck! (or not, he he he)

Mann i agree with Todd Utah, whoever put germany as the favorite infront of Argentina must be smoking a whole lotta Kanja. seriously, it is clear that brazil are the number one team going on, but beside them england????????????? are you kidding me??? wow, do yall remember the game when argentina played england, england had all their players, aregentina played without messi, without mascherano, without heinze, without aimar. and They tortured them, until perkman decided to take out roman, ayala, and crespo. I really want to see brazil Vs Argentina in the finals. Italy looks strong, but no germany and england please, these are the most overated teams. Lampard is just sorry to me, gerrard is great, but not lampard. spain is a much tougher competition thatn england.
By the way what yall think about the second round match up, brazil would have to play either italy or the check, unless the red white and blue pulls a chockie?????

Rugby players spend a lot of time physical training Compared to other form of sports.I have read the
Rugby laws mentioned on this site. It’s a gripping sport which targets the grip strength and the active mindedness of a player. American football and rugby league are also primarily collision sports, but their tackles tend to terminate much more quickly. For professional rugby, players are often chosen on the basis of their size and apparent strength and they develop the skill and power over the passage of time. In modern rugby considerable attention is given to fitness and aerobic conditioning as well as basic weight training.
