Shorty Scored! Go Romario!

May 15th, 2006 | By: Euler Costa | 2 Comments »

The Goal Hunter Miami FC won 3:2 Portland Timbers saturday. Romario, our 1994 WC hero, scored the first goal of the team equilizing the game (1:1) and scored the winner, at the last minute! I know we have many Romario admirers reading the blog every day, so here is the link about the game. I can only imagine the reaction of the fans watching that little guy with grey hair deciding the game with a header. The guy is 40 years old and is still doing what he knows best.

Now his hunt for the 1000th goal is a little closer. I’m not sure about how many goals he must score now, but I think the number is around 32. I wish him luck, but he is already a legend with or without this mark, of course.

Romário , terror , o baixinho é matador ! ! !

Way to go “peixe”!

For me today is the real kickoff for the WC. Parreira will list the luckiest 23 soccer players in the world and then training camp starts. The whole country will tune in daily to watch the TV reporters speculate on who is in better shape and should be amongst the starting 11 come June 13th. Time to decorate the streets with green and yellow and memorize the Globo theme song for this edition of the WC.
