U-20 Into the Quarterfinals

October 7th, 2009 | By: Duvel | 4 Comments »

This was an impressive attacking display from the U-20 team, but a not so nice defensive show at the same time. This match could have easily been a draw at the end of 90 minutes. Alex Teixiera was oustanding today and is definitely making a name for himself.

The U-20’s next match is on Saturday against the winner of the Nigeria-Germany matchup.

Duvel, you have to respect Uruguay player’s fighting spirit and determination. They really fight hard till the end. Brazil were so lucky in second half. Souza was so stupid making that late challenge caused the penalty. If Hernandez scored that penalty, i afraid there will be different ending. Alex Teixiera was really oustanding. Brazil has individual skills but as a team they need to show the determination like Uruguay players to win the title. Lucky charm won’t smile at you all the time.

Thanks for the comment jzlim. Uruguay played a great second half. They easily could have scored multiple times. If they didn’t draw us for this round they could have made a run in this tournament. Although Abel Hernandez missed that PK he’s got a big future in my opinion.
