Yes Sourav, I think you are right that the defensive midfield position players that Dunga is using with the exception of Josue and Fernando is getting on in age by that I mean Gilberto Silva and Mineiro. Having said that I think the latter 2 players barring any serious injuries should be able to play at a very high level for the next 2 years. In the mean time Dunga or whoever is the coach will find defensive midfielders to fill the position. Denilson (Arsenal) Lucas (Liverpool) Dudu CSKA Moskow and a whole host of other players comes to mind. Remember the make up of the team will change as the qualifiers go on.

Josimar, I think the defensive midfield in general is aging and lacks consistently. I have seen 6-7 games under Dunga and yes occasionally they have good games and then they fail to keep up the consistency. Against Arg. they all had a great game (Even Love came back to take the ball leading to the first goal and made the pass for the last one!!). What I mean is that they are not spectacular. In defense it is easy to point to errors as leads to opponent’s chances while a miss in the attacking half is merely frustrating. Elano seems to have more creative moments than Mineiro. Josue was tackling well but needs to pass the ball right away and if he finds himself in space he appears a bit lost. I admit I did not see the games repeatedly, but that was my impression watching them first time. I am sure he had good plays, what I mean is that I expect more from a Brasil national team selection. Right now, I am sure he will continue to play in the qualifiers.

Sourav why don’t you like Mineiro. I think his only problem now is his age as he is now 32 which means he will be 36 in 2010 annd I do not think Dunga if he is around will use him. Of all the matches that Mineiro has played since Dunga took charge Mineiro has not had a bad game. Look at the job he did on Riquelme during the Copa America final. He tackles well without giving up unecessary fouls and he passes the ball well and he also has the ability to go pass players. He was the one who started the play when Brazil equalized against USA. Don’t take the hype too seriously look at a game over and over and asses the players thats what I do. Thats just my opinion that’s all

I loved the game, the pace of it and Mexico played really well. Their goalie was spectacular. Overall, I liked Brasil’s performance, but here I will be critical so it gets even better for qualifiers and 2010.

Goalkeeper: I like JC’s speed off the line. He was lucky on a free-kick that dipped in where he was surprised and swatted at and dropped the ball. He should still be no.1 with Doni no.2 keeper.

Defence: Lucio is back!!! he was fantastic. I think for the 2nd spot there are many good players like Juan, Alex, Edu, Naldo etc. etc.
I like Alves’s attack and crosses a bit better than Maicon but he is also more vulnerable in defence. I say Maicon first, with Alves as a good substitute, especially if Brasil needs to score.
The left back…..I am a bit concerned as Kleber was a bit late in his marking for the Mexican goal (the play originated at the other end with the right back-midfield’s fault). His crossing was bad. Misses on a number of occasion. This is question mark area. Maxwell?

Defensive midfield: Gilberto’s game is still okay but dropping in intensity. I do not like Mineiro (sorry Josimar). Elano is good. Josue has potential but is not a complete package. Fernando is disappointing. Lucas Leiva in another year? Another area of improvement.

Offense: I am beginning to like Ronaldinho G. deeper as the playmaker. He is, awesome on the ball and his vision is fantastic. However, he is a defensive liability. A very very poor tackler and gives a foul and gets a card for poor tackling. He is irreplacable and hope he improves his defence work a bit.
Robinho is carrying the work-load and comes back to defend. Hope he finishes plays a bit better (the last pass, the shot etc.).
Kaka is a class act but he has been a bit off his game lately for the national team. He will be better. He has awesome speed and I like him just behind number 9 (same as in AC Milan). So 3 positions are set for the qualifies and hopefully for 2010.
Vagner Love plainly sucks as number 9. he is shit. However, he is good at tracking back in defense. Alfonso Alves has a very good shot, but he is not suitable at this time as number 9.
A fit Ronaldo? Pato in another year?

Don’t worry Conceicao about the number 9 problem. Dunga will care of that Ronaldo, Adriano Fred and Nilmar will be back. What impresses me so far about the team is the fighting spirit of the team in that they pressure their opponents in all sections of the field.I especially like Mineiro he reminds me so much of Mauro Silva and I like that type of player. Also Elzo from the 86 team used to play like that. As I indicated I always like when Dunga use to play for Brazil even if they lost they never go down without a fight. Look at Kaka and ronaldinho tackling and try to win balls back thats what I like to see. Dunga is definitely making an imprint on the team. He still have time. Finally concerning the number 9 problem in my opinion Vagner Love is not ready at this level Alfonse is okay he just needs to move around more. I especially like his close ball control skills but he needs to relax and pick his shots more carefully. That can come with good coaching.
