Heat on Dunga

The defeat to Portugal was not a surprise to anyone, but Dunga is taking a brutal bashing anyway… because of the shirt, naturally. What was he thinking??? A newspaper from São Paulo reported that the CBF (Brazilian Footbal Federation) had vetoed extravagant clothing from now on, which is absolutely hilarious and ridiculous at the same time. Even sad. But today the CBF released a note contradicting the story. ((whatever))

Dunga became a jokeArriving at the airport he was questioned about the shirt and he replied defensively, saying that the Seleção always brings this kind of heat: “Everything about the Seleção is big, everything makes news, it is normal. People talk about my shirt just to get to me.” To some extent he may be right. For an example, a Portuguese newspaper said “We beat the best!” About this Dunga said “We are not the best. Italians are the current champions”.

All I know is that Dunga is the main joke theme for many people, not only here but all around the world. In Argentina the press feasted about his fashion (lack of) taste. I was having lots of fun reading a forum about it today. Dunga wears strange things because his daughter wants to be a fashion stylist. Some are already speculating if he was a bad father and now his daughter is having her revenge exposing him as a fool in front of the whole world.

There is a gallery in this link.

Uh oh! Fashion police on the loose. It’s too bad Brazil is taking so much heat. I guess Brazilian fans are a little spoiled from all their past success. Brazil did not play poorly, Portugal just played better. This little bump in the road won’t stop Brazil. Rebuilding is a normal part of a team’s evolution. I hope they give Dunga some time to find the right chemistry for this “new look” Brazil.

I really didn’t hear anyone complaining about the game itself. We are only ashamed for him and his clowny look. As I said, nobody was much interested in this match as far as I could see. I know that in Europe everybody is ripping their hairs off the head because of the Euro 2008, but I don’t feel this drama here.

By the way, very good post about the match. I agree 100% with your analysis. The first half was very good for both teams. In the 2nd half Portugal was much better. A very nice display of talents!

If they had won 4-0 everyone would be rushing out to get that shirt. From a fashion perspective thank godness they didn’t win :-)

I just want to let you guys know that you guys are not just the best from South America, but from the World of soccer. Not even Argentina can match you Brazil.

But I love my Mexican National Team.

At least I am happy that Brazil internationally is better then Argentina, and yet Argentina always brag about their damned players. Imagined if they were as good as Brazil, how much shit they would be braggin? Boy, I am glad Brazil is the number one. You will never ever going to see a Mexican wearing an Argentian jersey, but you will see a Mexican wearing a Brazilian jersey. Vamos Brazil!!!

Hey guys, I want your comments on this:
Who is going to make it in group B from COPA AMERICA, and who will be in the semifinal for COPA LIBERTADORES? I really want to see your comments on this please.

Bulgatti, now that you mention it, Group B
looks very interesting. The vaunted Confed
Cup team that everyone is so proud of lost to Mexico and then barely got by Japan. And
Ecuador beat Brasil the last two qualifiers in
Quito which brought a lot of whining from
Parreira about the altitude. Time for Dunga and the Selecao to step up from the opening
minute. The Confed Cup proved that the days where Brasil could toy with Mexico and then
pull it out in the end are over. The Mexicans may be the best on-ball defenders in the world and they appear to be conditioned like Scolari’s Brasil and Portugal teams. I think that Brasil and Mexico will probably tie and both will advance. Ecuador is good but I think Mexico will wear them down.

Oh I see where Ze Roberto has said that he is happy to give the younger players a chance for the National Team although he has been playing very well for Santos. I only hoped Cafu had done the same thing before the World Cup. Dunga seems to be doing a good job so far.

It is only reasonable that a lot of expectation is put on the best team of the world. 3,000 players + play in other countries each year. I don’t know why, but though Brasil puts the best players on the field, the best ‘team players’ win. So, if they were all playing in Brazil, and could afford to do so, it would be a dream team, n’est-ce pas? meanwhile, Italy, Spain, Germany etc, continue to be educated by the best. C’est la vie.

I just read where the old man Cafu claims that AC Milan is going to renew his contract . Good for him but I will never forget the foolish play that he did in the WC.

i couldn’t be more happy that he showed the world who is the best of the best…
C.Ronaldo,,,, huh… no way

Why is this Brazil blog dead. WE just
won big time against a fearsome Argentina with a second string team
just by following a European style
tactical discipline. Agreed it was
not pretty Samba style soccer but with
a second string team tactc was the only way out. Once again Dunga has shown just as in 1994 that just pretty football do not win cups. One must have strategy and tactics for the opponents.

One good thing out of all this is that we are buildng a great defence again with Maicon, Alex Juan and Gilberto and with more like Marcelo
waiting in the wings.

A few changes with youngsters in the team and Kaka, Ronaldinho and Adriano back we should be ready for 2010
South Africa.

Heres my team ( some changes are expected)

Doni

Maicon Alex Juan Gilberto ( Marcelo)

Ronaldinho, Kaka, Baptista Alves/ Josue/Mineiro

Adriano, Robinho ( Fred, Wagner Love)

Whopeeee it was sweet to beat the pretty Argentine boys.

Best

Sorry I misse out on Blumer Elano he should start as the defensive screen
definitely. And also Cicinho should be
in the bench for replacement of Maicon.
Maicon has been a key player. I was
also impressed by Baptista and Josue.
Moneiro was also great marking out Riquelme.

This blog is not dead and will not be dead unless it is taken offline. Dunga was right. I was one of them who thought that Argentina would have won. I predicted a 2-1 in favour of Argentina. However Dunga was spot on. He used Mineiro and Josue to completely mark Riquelme out of his game and used Julio Baptista to prevent Mascherano and Veron from launching attacks from deep. My biggest suprise was Josue he can really play. I know he could pass the ball but I didn’t know he could tackle that well. He made some crunching tackles on Riquelme and Veron so much so that they became frustrated. Also what was riquelme thinking when he continued to lob the ball over to little Messi and Tevez which allowed Alex and Juan to have a field day just heading the ball away. Its only one match though and Argentina will bounce back.

Hooray for Dunga you made us eat crow. LOL. No more old man Cafu and Roberto Carlos. Adriano and Ronaldo still have a chance though. If they are fit and playing well Dunga will pick them over Vagner Love and Alfonso

Josimars, please explain to me what Dunga
was doing by playing Maicon and Daniel Alves
together. I thought that Maicon had just moved over into the Gilberto Silva role, but some of
the post-match commentary indicated that Maicon stayed at right back and that Daniel
Alves was attacking out of a defensive mid-field spot.

I agree with you about Josue but am still amused by the notion that Dunga could play a midfield of
Ronaldinho, Kaka, Julio Baptista and Daniel
Alves in the future. That would certainly
silence the members of the media who have
considered Dunga’s line-up too defensive.

Okay conceicao Dunga is no fool. He believes in playing tough and rugged football. He likes players who are effective even when they don’t have the ball.If you look at the France Brazil match that they lost you can see that Brazil was ineffective when they lost the ball. Not so with Dunga Some people complain that he is too defensive but as you can see that is alot of crap. Dunga played over 90 times for Brazil and they only lost about 3 times so he must know something about football. Concerning Daniel Alves and Maicon playing together he did not want to upset his plan which was to have Mineiro and Josue mark Riquelme and Veron and thats why he put Alves on. He need a player that have a similar style to the player he took off which was Elano. Also Alves plays in that position for Sevilla when the need arises
