Okay conceicao Dunga is no fool. He believes in playing tough and rugged football. He likes players who are effective even when they don't have the ball.If you look at the France Brazil match that they lost you can see that Brazil was ineffective when they lost the ball. Not so with Dunga Some people complain that he is too defensive but as you can see that is alot of crap. Dunga played over 90 times for Brazil and they only lost about 3 times so he must know something about football. Concerning Daniel Alves and Maicon playing together he did not want to upset his plan which was to have Mineiro and Josue mark Riquelme and Veron and thats why he put Alves on. He need a player that have a similar style to the player he took off which was Elano. Also Alves plays in that position for Sevilla when the need arises

Josimars, please explain to me what Dunga
was doing by playing Maicon and Daniel Alves
together. I thought that Maicon had just moved over into the Gilberto Silva role, but some of
the post-match commentary indicated that Maicon stayed at right back and that Daniel
Alves was attacking out of a defensive mid-field spot.

I agree with you about Josue but am still amused by the notion that Dunga could play a midfield of
Ronaldinho, Kaka, Julio Baptista and Daniel
Alves in the future. That would certainly
silence the members of the media who have
considered Dunga's line-up too defensive.

This blog is not dead and will not be dead unless it is taken offline. Dunga was right. I was one of them who thought that Argentina would have won. I predicted a 2-1 in favour of Argentina. However Dunga was spot on. He used Mineiro and Josue to completely mark Riquelme out of his game and used Julio Baptista to prevent Mascherano and Veron from launching attacks from deep. My biggest suprise was Josue he can really play. I know he could pass the ball but I didn't know he could tackle that well. He made some crunching tackles on Riquelme and Veron so much so that they became frustrated. Also what was riquelme thinking when he continued to lob the ball over to little Messi and Tevez which allowed Alex and Juan to have a field day just heading the ball away. Its only one match though and Argentina will bounce back.

Hooray for Dunga you made us eat crow. LOL. No more old man Cafu and Roberto Carlos. Adriano and Ronaldo still have a chance though. If they are fit and playing well Dunga will pick them over Vagner Love and Alfonso

Sorry I misse out on Blumer Elano he should start as the defensive screen
definitely. And also Cicinho should be
in the bench for replacement of Maicon.
Maicon has been a key player. I was
also impressed by Baptista and Josue.
Moneiro was also great marking out Riquelme.

Why is this Brazil blog dead. WE just
won big time against a fearsome Argentina with a second string team
just by following a European style
tactical discipline. Agreed it was
not pretty Samba style soccer but with
a second string team tactc was the only way out. Once again Dunga has shown just as in 1994 that just pretty football do not win cups. One must have strategy and tactics for the opponents.

One good thing out of all this is that we are buildng a great defence again with Maicon, Alex Juan and Gilberto and with more like Marcelo
waiting in the wings.

A few changes with youngsters in the team and Kaka, Ronaldinho and Adriano back we should be ready for 2010
South Africa.

Heres my team ( some changes are expected)

Doni

Maicon Alex Juan Gilberto ( Marcelo)

Ronaldinho, Kaka, Baptista Alves/ Josue/Mineiro

Adriano, Robinho ( Fred, Wagner Love)

Whopeeee it was sweet to beat the pretty Argentine boys.
