Brazil v. Australia
Saturday, September 7, 2013 3:15 P.M. ET
Mané Garrincha, Brasília, Brazil.
Injuries, injuries, injuries is the theme of tomorrow’s friendly in Brasilia as the Seleção host the Socceroos. Fred, Hulk, and Dani Alves are all out of this match. Even Neymar picked up a little nick during training today, but it should not prevent him from featuring Saturday afternoon.
For Maicon, this is not only a return to the starting XI, but a first opportunity to surpass Dani Alves in Felipão’s side. The Roma fullback appears healthy and fit in his two early performances in Serie A. He is the man we should be paying the most attention to at the Mané Garrincha.
I am expecting a better show in front of the home fans for this match. I do not think it will be anything close to the Confederations Cup performances, but it should be better than last month’s friendly.
Probable Starting XI: Julio César; Maicon, Thiago Silva, David Luiz e Marcelo; Luiz Gustavo, Paulinho e Ramires; Bernard, Neymar e Jô
Prediction: Brazil 2-0 Australia
