Dinho Back in National Team Fold

Mano3Brazil manager Mano Menezes has said that Ronaldinho is probably going to be part of his future call-up to the Seleção. Mano watched AC Milan play twice over the past week, along with Real Madrid, Tottenham, and Inter Milan. The coach told the Italian press, “I think I will call Ronaldinho. I have seen him play well and he is adapting to his new role.”

Dinho had a stellar match against Chievo Verona over the weekend. His Champions League performance against Real Madrid was average, but not enough to not stand out to the Brazil boss.

Mano also stated that he is keeping a close eye on Hernanes, and that he spoke with several players over the past week, including Kaka and Marcelo. Marcelo had a strong performance against AC Milan, and is long overdue for a return to the national team.

We should be finding out in the next week when Mano will make these call-ups for the Argentina match.

Other news:

Denilson had an interview with FIFA this week that is worth the read. He told FIFA regarding the Seleção that, “I hope I can get back involved, because it’s been a long time. I think I’ve already proven myself enough to get a chance.” He also added that his current club manager has said the player’s talent is “underestimated.”

Leaving aside all his obvious talents – his dribbling, his passing, his set pieces – Ronaldinho's place in the Selecao going forward I think REALLY depends on how he can play in the middle. I may be wrong, but I truly feel Mano has committed to Robinho for the long term, so Ronaldinho is going to be asked to be a pure playmaker from the center of the field, at least while Ganso and Kaka are out. Last time he was truly depended on to do this was in 2006 where he was an absolute disaster. But he's older now and perhaps more willing to accept whatever role the coach puts him in. Its not “his” Selecao any more. So we'll see. One thing I do anticipate is, I think he and Neymar are going to LOVE playing with each other. I think Ronaldinho will be 100% happy to just flick passes into Neymar all night long. So he's got that going for him.

I think Hernanes is going to be world class by the time 2014 comes around.

Don't really have anything to say about Denilson. Mainly because whenever I see his name I think of the one from the late 1990s, the one who used to do more stepovers than Robinho and Cristiano Ronaldo combined.
