Mano to Call Team for October Friendlies

338px-CBF_logo_svgThis Thursday at noon eastern time, Brazil manager Mano Menezes will announce a new round of call-ups to the national team. Unlike this month’s training, Brazilian based players will be selected for this team. The friendlies have not been announced yet by the CBF. The dates for those potential matches will be the 8th and 12th of October.

There is a lot of speculation about whether Neymar will be called for this round of matches. After his suspension for poor behavior on the pitch, Mano stated he will talk to Santos manager Dorival Junior before determining whether to call Neymar for next month.

It is an important lesson for Neymar to learn. No individual is bigger than the the team. The coach may not always be right, but respect is a must.
What has impressed me through the years about the Selecao is the pride players take in being a part of the squad, whether starting or coming off the bench. Just wearing the jersey is a huge accomplishment.
I am a huge Neymar fan; he has incredible skills and will be a force for the next decade. But, to repeat, respect for coaches and teammates is a must.

I agree with you. Players need to respect their coaches AND teammates. Whether starting or coming off the bench is up to the coach. Also, no player is bigger than the team. If the team wins, everyone wins. If the team loses, it is everyone's fault.

Guy's this complete lack of clarity on who our opponents are for Oct 8th and 12th is very very annoying. What is the CBF's agenda what is going on and how come more of you are not up in arms about this.
Yes Mano has been very good and picking the correct players but how do we gauge how good they are together as a bunch if they are not going to play a real match.

    absolutely correct Kingquaker

but take little Kingquaker it is bad for stomach

I know…I don't even know what the CBF has been doing. I guess we will find out if we have any opponents or not on Thursday.

CBF is looking for a big payoff, since it is such an *honor* to play Brazil in friendlies. This is the reason why we played Tanzania and Zimbabwe prior to the cup. I don't have a problem with playing Tanzania, but the fact that our squad had to go and shake hands with Mugabe (a guy who privately sanctioned mass rape as a means of intimidating voters ) was a complete abomination.

Let's hope we play some good teams in October so that our boys can get some real practice in. I don't care if we lose, but I want Mano to be able to see which guys work well together when our backs are against the wall so that he can field the perfect team for Copa America.

Very annoying that we do not know our opponents for the friendly.

I think Neymar shouldn't be called up so he can get back to reality here. It is not a right, it is a privilege to play for the team and to be called up, and this reflects the privilege in taking a penalty shot. The sooner he learns that, the better.

i hope Hernanes get more playing time in these friendlies. Watched Lazio-Fiorentina match on the weekend and highlights Lazio-Milan today he was superb in both games.
