Robinho Moves to AC Milan

Robinho MilanRobinho has completed a sensational move from Manchester City to AC Milan. He signed a four year contract after the clubs agreed on an €18 million transfer fee.

This move was rather unexpected after Milan signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic. There had been rumors that Robinho was their Plan B if the Ibrahimovic move fell through. However, Silvio Berlusconi has rediscovered his deep pockets and threw down to bring Robinho to the San Siro.

It is an awesome day for Robinho, who has worked very hard the past year to make himself an attractive transfer target once again. Teaming up with Pato, Ronaldinho, and Thiago Silva should make the Rossoneri incredibly entertaining this season. As many of you have stated, Serie A is probably the perfect European fit for a player like Robinho. I would be stunned if his form dropped off at all in Italy this year.

I am really happy for Robinho. I think this is probably a dream move for him, especially now he can leave Man City and EPL for good!!!! I wish him the best of luck. BTW, apparently Ibra encouraged AC Milan to sign Robinho. If this is indeed the case, I think it is a good sign. It looks like Ibra was very impressed by the Dinho and Pato's performance on Sunday already (he was beaming ALL THE TIME in the stands every time Dinho and Pato went forward to attack), and he spoke highly of both of them. If Ibra also likes the idea of having Robinho joining them, he will be willing to work with Robinho. On paper, seriously, AC Milan has one of the most mouth-watering attacking force. Now it's up to the coach to maintain a balance and make sure everyone gets along in the dressing room.

BTW, AC Milan really surprised me. They were so quiet in the transfer season, and suddenly they signed two of the most talented footballers available. AC Milan really knows how to negotiate and bargain!

great news!!! ROBINHO + PATO + SILVA + DINHO — GO BRAZILLLLLLL

Wow this is brilliant and am sure this is going to work for both Milan and Robinho very well. Must say I am really looking forward to both the Italian league and the the champions league Now. With so much of our attacking talent in Milan and defensive talent in Inter it's going to be exciting. look forward to the string of comments that am sure will follow.

one thing i wish to happen
both AC Milan and Manchester City face each other in UEFA Champions League
and Milan beat Manchester 4-0 .. That will be a lesson for them

This may have been the best of all possible moves for Rob. With Milan bringing in Ibra and Rob it seemed like overkill with Borriello, Inzaghi and Huntlaar. Well it is all clear now as Milan announced yesterday that Borriello was loaned to Roma and Huntlaar is off the books as well. My thoughts now are does Robinho get 1st team play or is he just a sub? If he is 1st choice, then I would think that Seedorf goes to the bench. If so then Milan's attack is potent with Dinho, Robinho, Ibra & Pato. On the other hand this makes them significantly weaker defensively and may be prone to counter-attack in the ultimate counter-attacking league in the world. Their 2 current holding midfielders are not the quickest or fastest around and were exposed at times badly over the last few seasons. It should be interesting how this plays out. I'll be watching Milan with very high anticipation level this year.

UEFA Champions league Group G has Milan, Real Madrid, Ajax and Auxerre. I think we will get some fascinating football to watch from these clubs during the group stages.

I agree, and I think some fans are still concerned about Milan defense/midfield situation. The rumor is that there may be a defender joining Milan in Winter. I am just amazed by how Milan did their business – they waited until the last few days and made really good deals!!! I wonder if such decisions were made because Milan are in the group of death in the CL.

It's really up to the coach to figure out what he will do with these players. It will be interesting to see how it will play out. But it is definitely the best of all possible moves for Robinho. At least, so far, he is actually wanted by fans of AC Milan, and they are happy that he has joined them. He will be in a more positive environment to start with, and he will be surrounded by his fellow countrymen who can help him settle down. We may actually get to the Brazilian Robinho in Milan. Anyways, considering the number of games they have to play and footballers can easily pick up injuries (well…Pato is quite injury-prone…), the addition of Robinho will add more depth to their attack.

Milan vs. Inter = Brazil vs. Brazil. I expect to see a Samba float during half time when they play against each other. =P

I am happy Robhino finally sign for Milan which is slowly turning into a Brazilian’s training ground. With Dhino,Pato,Thiago Silva there it looks Robinho is home now.His days of wondering in the wilderness are over.

I used to break down most of the times Milan play when Dhino’s magic passes were wasted by Inzaghi and Boriello. But with the arrival of Robinho i sure it will be fire works.I am just itching to see how Dhino,Pato,Robinho and Ibra are going to rip apart team after team.

Great move for him. Have to wonder how the coach is going to integrate him AND Ibra AND Dinho AND Pato but it should be fun watching.

Yeah Sandy. The issue I see with Milan is how to fill your lineup and balance the team with Pirlo. He is the X factor in the sense that he needs cover help defensively and he is not strong enough offensively to make him your #10. So what do you do? Milan needs another ball winner to go with Pirlo and the other guy (name escapes me momentarily). This gives Pirlo less defensive responsibilty and he is free to move forward and time to recover and join the marking duties. But by adding another defensive midfielder it takes away some of the attacking moves up top for Ibra, Pato (please stay healthy) & Ronnie.

Milan has always pushed the envelope offensively and I believe they will live with the imbalance that Pirlo gives them if they drop Seedorf and bring in Robinho. I cant see Seedorf being a regular for the entire season. The Milan fans either love him or hate him passionately. One of the reasons I have always enjoyed watching Milan is that they are the only Italian team to be adventurous in attack and take chances with their lineup. Possible a perfect system if you are Brasilian.

Anyone – which are the matches to watch out for this weekend?

  • Sandy

No EPL, no La Liga, no Serie A this weekend. Players are on international duties (Euro qualification and international friendlies, or training session).
