Scolari to be next Brazil manager
You all know the news by now. Mano is out. Forget any nonsense about it being “too late” to fire him, or that the team was showing improvement, or his firing being solely about politics. There might be kernels of truth in the latter two, but the fact remains that Mano was miserable at personnel selection and tactically naive. This team was almost certainly not going to win with him as the manager. (I’m not saying they definitely will with Scolar, but better to roll the dice on a new direction than stick with the one that will probably lead you nowhere.
Now the news is that Scolari will be his replacement. I have major mixed feelings about this, which I’ll get to in the next article. Sorry I haven’t gotten one up yet; I actually had written 3,000 words for an article on where the CBF should go next, but when I booted up my computer to finish it today, I saw the news about Scolari. So that’s a whole bunch of work down the drain. Shame on me, I guess, for not getting it up sooner.
Anyway, I’ll try and get my thoughts on Scolari up tomorrow. In the meantime, I’m sure Brazil82, Kenny, Kachisaw and others have their own perspectives that are just as interesting.
